Replaced my street tires recently and after watching many tire tests chose Nankang NS-2's on 18" and 19". Left them on for the very first Suzuka NSX Club Japan track meeting as Honda has stopped holding the events. Four cars were chauffeured around behind a very fast new Honda Civic Type R as we...
Nice car Blake but good luck with the necessary conversion. Getting really hard to locate a clean example. There will be constant maintenance as the car is getting old. Maybe can see you at the Kinokuni booth in the next Tokyo Auto Salon. Have read your Speedhunter articles which are great.
Great looking car as mine is the same, red with black top 91. I agree with others that I'm always looking forward to the next drive. In my opinion the interior with the flip up steering wheel is a great idea. Leather seats are great for cruising but on the track a full bucket really makes you...
Great thread however while I can understand that people will look and comment about the NSX in most countries it doesn't happen here in Japan. I have driven my 91 NSX for over 8 years in Japan and no one has commented on the car. At car events it's popular but not on the street so it is fun to...
Well done importing your rare car. I have a 91' here in Japan with one of the same problems. The 1st gen. ALB was not very good however the next generation was very good so it is best to swap out the unit to the 2003 or later system. Also I had a dash light continuously on for the rear lights...
The refresh plan has taken a rest till September so they can introduce a new format and possible a new build system, I'm guessing on the last part
I've sent a mail to he who knows these things so that some contact at least might be possible.

Congratulations on taking the plunge from the R32 which is a very different beast. I was at the Kinokuni Enterprises booth at the last Tokyo Auto Salon. Living close to the Kansai airport.
Hi Scammy, .. Kinokuni have just put out our latest catalogue and would send you one if I can get you address. Don't have Skype but have LINE or the normal email address. Am I allowed to post that here?

Shouldn't any problem to join the club from overseas but the emails are all in Japanese, zero English. The club president speaks and writes English well.
Prices in Japan
Over the last 2 years prices in Japan have risen on all very clean manual cars. The average/normal mileage for a 1991 is 47,000 miles and price around $48,000 which is up 20%. Type R's are not available at $60,000US. There are around 100 cars always for sale but poor...
Left NZ at 22 and hardly been back. Now based in Osaka, Japan. Have built up Kinokuni which is a race parts shop that joins all the main car parts together. Fuel clutch, water, oil. Catalogue is 230 pages. See you at the Tokyo Auto Salon maybe.
Hi Sammy. Nice car to have and drive on NZ roads, I'm envious. Originally from Dunedin so Central Otago is well known to me. Teretonga was my track. My biggest thrill has been to be let loose on the Suzuka main circuit with all Type R's and only one other 91 the same as mine.
Looks too cold for me. The black roof was to make the car look lower. Keep it original but the shocks and tyres have moved on a lot in 25 years. Brakes with modern autocross pads will keep you on track till you really understand the car. My pace is the way to go. Congratulations and enjoy.
At a recent NSX Suzuka Basic Course event they had panic braking at 140kph, 160, and 180. All the cars had ABS except mine to which everyone said shook their heads and mentioned that I had big balls or stupid. Never really thought about it really(From NZ and learn't to drive on gravel roads) as...
I have not used other waxes available in the States so can only give my thumbs up to the Blackfire products which has given my red NSX and wife's red Boxster a deep shine and long lasting protection. The NSX is under a cover in a garage and after over one year still has the deep shine. The...
I will be on the Kinokuni (Race car parts) stand for the duration and can be found under the yellow doughnut ballon with red KINOKUNI on it. Only western guy there...Wayne
Pretty late jumping onto this thread but one of our customers made a longitudinal V6 engined NSX registered for the street and it was displayed at the Tokyo Salon 2010. They are based in Kobe.
