Need good NSX mechanic in Northern Cali

+1 to San Carlos Auto Solutions -- seeing your rec here gave me confidence. I normally go to Trackspec, and I've been very happy with their work over the years (timing belt, coolant hoses, alignment, tires). But I wanted to install the 02+ ABS upgrade and perform the SOS IAB Delete, and I...

Interior LHD driver door liner, front piece

I upgraded my door liners to the Mita set. Two had broken tabs, so I threw them away. The front piece, which connects to the A/C vent, is intact. Not sure if there is any demand for it, but giving it a try here for $20 plus shipping in CONUS. Free pickup in Bay Area.

Update: We're limiting production of our NSX parts. No new development will be made for future projects.

I wish there was a "love" button. I placed an order just now. Really happy to refurbish the old girl with high-quality parts.

What should timing belt / valve adjust service cost?

It certainly depends on where in the PNW, but keep in mind that we've had record-high inflation. $4700 in 2020 would be $5500 today, assuming shops have raised their rates to match (my locals certainly have). The only question is whether you live in a Bay-Area-equivalent metro in terms of...

What should timing belt / valve adjust service cost?

In the SF Bay Area, it cost me $4700 (parts and labor) at Trackspec 3 years ago: timing belt, water pump, LMA, VTEC seals, camshaft seals, crankshaft pulley, Cedar Ridge pulley shield, crankshaft seal, valve adjustment. I think I had to wait ~3 months for parts, the job took about a week.

Wow, I missed all of this (I'm in the FB group, but don't check it much). I'm sorry to hear you're bowing out, but I hope you reconsider and come back someday. There are plenty of satisfied customers, like myself, who are happy to continue being customers. It's genuinely impossible to please...

    1993 NSX coupe Black/Black 5-Speed 121187 mi JH4NA1157PT000183

Yep, prices will vary. RacerXWing's spreadsheet will show averages, but there's obviously a range of selling prices associated with each dot on his graph. I've thrown cars up for sale at "ambitious" prices when I wasn't really committed to selling, and let the market decide. Kind of an "I...

    New NorCal owner saying hello

Ah, good call-out on CT. I found a few places that sold the supercharger, but I didn't think to check if the company was still around. Hopefully, in 10 years, I'll have figured something out about passing smog with a modified car. That CARB EO for the CTSC is incredible; I'm surprised SoS...

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

Yep! That was my guess, including fees: That spreadsheet makes it super easy to guess where things are going to land. Of course, it's also confirmation bias in a way; likely buyers are studying it and anchoring on those prices. I imagine there is too much cardinality there for RacerXWing to...

    New NorCal owner saying hello

Thank you! I will take some photos this coming weekend, but this is the car I picked up: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/209477-1991-NSX-coupe-Black-Black-6-Speed-77500-JH4NA1152MT002631 Black is my favorite as well. I wanted to avoid red, if possible (too flashy).

I don't have the ability to PM you, RacerXwing, but I have info on 4 more private transactions that may be interesting to you. Feel free to DM me if you can. '91 red / black, ~87k miles, 3 owners, all maintenance up to date, stock except wheels '91 red / tan, ~83k miles, 2 owners, TB / WP...

    New NorCal owner saying hello

Thanks! I'm a big believer in preventative maintenance. I'm hoping to keep this as a forever car. I like it stock, and I'm not interested in tracking or racing, so no motivation to change it. My loose plans are: 1) one or two years from now, upgrade the wheels 2) seven years from now, at...

    New NorCal owner saying hello

I'm a first-time NSX owner in the East Bay Area -- introducing myself to fellow enthusiasts. Over the weekend, I purchased a '91 Berlina black on black with 6 speed conversion. VIN JH4NA1152MT002631 I've made an appointment at Trackspec for some overdue service (TB / WP / etc) in early...

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

If you're referring to this one, I agree. I've seen it on eBay, too. I suppose he's not in a rush, but I'm sure he has had a lot of prospective buyers' eyeballs on it, and the market has spoken. That's how I see it, too -- for now. I am not impacted (thankfully), and we have 1 year cash on...

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

No, I'm talking about the two on BaT, since you referenced BaT. 2001 13k-mile: I'd guess $95-$100k 1991 69k-mile: I'd guess $44-$46k The 2001 with 40k miles is probably going to run in the $69-$74k range depending on intangibles like mods, service due, etc. etc. EDIT: try it yourself...

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

Ah, for a 2001 I'd guess it would start in the $90k range, doing a straight read of the spreadsheet on NA2 pop-ups. Add in the 6% BaT premium and the fact that 2001 is the "youngest" NA2, and I'd guess $95k-$100k is right. I am guessing the other one will go for around $46k, applying the same...

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

You can get that info (color) from the spreadsheet in the first post. If it's a manual NA1, I would be very surprised if the 13k mile car sells for $90+k when we're in a recession; I would expect car values to be flat or decline this year. What year/model is it?
  19. A

***STICKY*** Gen1 NSX Current Market Analysis

It depends heavily on the model year. Assuming it's manual NA1, the spreadsheet suggests that 13k miles would run about $72k on average, but 40k miles would drop to $55k on average. So, approximately $1.60 / mile at that range. The effect decreases as you go up in miles, i.e. 113k vs 140k does...

    PPI in Chicago area?

I've submitted two replies to this post, but they don't seem to have gone through. Trying again. First, thanks for the offer of coffee. I'll take you up on it if I'm in Chi-town. :) I've seen Brylek make the offer to people in the past (when I was lurking). Having a Primer's opinion would...

Anybody in Santa Barbara recommend a PPI?

Hi -- I'm resurrecting an extremely old thread. I see that Norm @ Gold Coast is still there from this thread, and that's my first choice for a PPI in the SB area. However, if I need a PPI closer to SLO/Santa Maria, are there any recommended shops?

    PPI in Chicago area?

I'm reluctant to have someone go out of their way during a pandemic and especially during these protests, but I'll think that over. Thank you. The current owner refused to take the car to Asteri or Woodfield, only McGrath, which doesn't have a specialist on staff. He doesn't have a strong...

    PPI in Chicago area?

Hi, I'm a prospective owner in the SF Bay Area. I'm interested in a 1991 NA1 located near Chicago. Due to the pandemic, I won't be traveling to see the car. The Carfax is clean, and I've gotten a look at major service records. From a search, it seems like Muller's Woodfield Acura is the best...
