    What is APPLE planning?

A couple thoughts on China... The deal with China Mobile gets them access to the largest network (~750 million subscribers) but is not the iPhone's first appearance in China. The 2nd and 3rd largest carriers (about 480 million subscribers combined) have had the iPhone as early as 2009. China...

    What is APPLE planning?

Personally I discount the cash number significantly, only 22% of the $159 billion is in the US. Some of that is priced in already but if a tax holiday is announced they'll pop back up $50/share easily.

    What is APPLE planning?

Forest from the trees, they can say whatever they want but at the end of the day it boils down to present value of future cash flows. 3 consecutive holiday quarters with the same profit despite selling more each year means growth is flat. AAPL's own guidance for Q2 is flat as well. The stock had...

    What is APPLE planning?

What do analysts have to do with this? Profits are flat YoY for the 3rd time, margins are down. If there's no potential for additional profits what makes them deserving of a higher multiple?

These are the two I've seen. About the same as the Magic Trackpad pricewise, hopefully they'll come down soon. http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=331-9613&baynote_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=0&~ck=baynoteSearch and...

    What is APPLE planning?

Did you really just ask how much Microsoft is going to charge for (Adobe) Photoshop and (Adobe) Acrobat? Seriously? Office is included with every Surface btw. EDIT - Every copy of Windows RT includes Office, not just Surface.

    Michael Johnson picks NSX

    +1 Chris Harris's review below specifically targets daily drivability...he compares ride quality to a Rolls Royce! <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5mKB-8WUB5k?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Stock market - look up above

Thanks. Agreed on all counts, and of course the historical performance of all options (~80% expire worthless) means the buyer is typically at a disadvantage to begin with. I'm looking at it as purely a speculative play as the lockup period ends then and judging from the most recent lockup...

Stock market - look up above

I'm thinking about buying some puts...what's your timeframe? Sahtt, what would you advise re: speculating with puts? Specifically the Nov. 17th $12 strike. Do you know any resources for calculating premiums on options?

Apple working with car manufacturers to add Siri button

I'd wager that its not really a Siri specific button, more like a generic Bluetooth spec command which the OS then activates whatever command is assigned to it. Is there any reason for an auto manufacturer to discriminate against 77% of of smartphone users worldwide?

It's finally here! Windows Phone 7 Series

Hindsight is 20/20. So in all your infinite wisdom, it was ok for Apple to hit junk status but any other company who does the same is instantly doomed for failure. Yes, Apple was just sandbagging it on purpose .

    What is APPLE planning?

Not really a meaningful comparison since its a future version of iOS being compared to current versions of WP and Android. There's a WP event scheduled for next week to discuss Apollo. I'm not sure when Jelly Bean will be announced but ALL 3 of these OS's are scheduled for Q3 releases, so an...

    What is APPLE planning?

The OS is designed to scale to fit, so text should appear ultra sharp like it does on an iPhone 4/4S. All computers and devices will follow the high resolution trend going forward and IMO it'll have a fairly significant positive effect on screen usability. Win8 has the same resolution...

Facebook stock, anyone make money on it's opening day?

The decimal was exactly where the insiders wanted it to be - the IPO was an exit, a payday, for all the shareholders. This IPO was never about raising capital, it was about capitalizing on the peak of Facebook's hype. Facebook had $4 billion in cash as of March 31st, what do they need...

    Flip Ferrari 458 - $427k

+1...there is no dealer in the country selling a 458 convertible for MSRP right now. Its a free market, if the dealer can profit off demand everyone else who owns the commodity should (and does) have the same right.

    My Kickstarter project was successful!

Awesome stuff, congrats! Have you experimented with a dual speaker version, i.e. just extrude your current piece to match the height of an iPhone in landscape? I'm curious as to how that would affect the acoustics.

    640,000,000

I'm guessing there is a ZERO percent chance the IRS lets winnings be transferred, whether to an individual or entity, without taxes being withheld first.

    HD TV > 1080p?

Question for you, since you're involved in this stuff: A 65" 1080p TV at a distance of 10 feet is above Apple's "retina" threshold, so in theory any higher resolution should be imperceptible by the human eye. What's the benefit in higher resolution? Are much larger TVs going to become the norm?
