At Raymond Wisco's
in San Diego. He's a great host, even though he ran out of ice cream! I've got the green
NSX, which is Mark Johnson's. He just bought it as his "Dali II" car (he still
has his white one as well). I'm driving it from San Diego to LA today, then to/during
NSXPO, on to San Francisco for a few days, and finally back to San Diego. |
| Everyone kept
trying to convince me that San Diego is always sunny. Don't believe it! Clouds and rain,
rain and clouds. It was nice and sunny when I left Virginia!
|
| Running errands
with Raymond. We went to: Costco, Target, Wal-Mart, three alignment shops, Group 5
performance shop ("sure, we have nitrous, come on down" then "oops, we are
out of nitrous. Sorry you drove half an hour to get here after you called first and we
told you we had it in stock"), a Mustang performance shop that really did have
nitrous, the detailer, Raymond's restaurant, Marshall's hardware, back to the detailers,
In-n-Out Burger, and a shop that Mark had apply some decals to the new green car.
|
| Headed back into
San Diego with the skyline in the background. I felt very stealthy in the green car
compared to my red one.
|
| Some woman taking
her dog to relieve itself on posted government property.
|
| Lots of cool
planes were flying around Miramar.
|
| We went to lots of
alignment shops. Raymond was trying to get an alignment before NSXPO but everyone was
either booked up, unable to work on such a low car, or was trying to rip him off when they
found out what kind of car it was.
|
| The guy from
Awards Plus applying decals to Mark Johnson's new green Dali II car. As soon as he was
done I started driving the car up to the convoy meeting point just north of LA.
|
| 3 and a half hours
later... I finally reach Santa Clarita, which is only about 90 miles from San Diego. I do
NOT recommend driving the 5 freeway through LA around 4PM on a weekday. Lots of
construction plus lots of traffic make for slow going.
This is Kendall Pond's car. He lives about 12 feet from the Fairfield hotel most of us
caravaning from the LA area are staying at this evening. Something yellow seems to have
spilled onto his calipers... |
| Tino Stramotas was
also at Kendall's. His red car is on the left.
|
| After meeting up
with everyone at the Fairfield hotel we all went for dinner right across the street at the
Macaroni Grill.... but of course we all drove anyway!
|
| Parking cars at
the restaurant. Nice view in the background.
|
| Line of cars with
all the people out of the way.
|
| From a different
angle. The Macaroni Grill restaurant is in the background.

| After dinner we
went for coffee at Starbuck's across the street. A few people went up to a magazine store;
everyone browsed car magazines except Dan. He picked up some mens magazine in a foil
jacket and promptly retired to his hotel room after muttering something about driving 15
hours a day alone for the last two days. Diane and Bill Zachar on either side.
