Cars with condensation on their windows in the hotel parking
lot early Sunday morning. |
More cars in the parking lot.

| Instructor's meeting led by mailing list regular Brian St.
Dennis (TX).
|
| Drivers meeting (Brian again). The focus was on trying to
improve safety after yesterday's three bent cars.
|
| Here's how you're supposed to come out of the corkscrew and
through turn 9. Simple, huh?
|
| The "Driving Dynamics Exercise" was going on all
day. Part skidpad, part autocross. I think quite a few people learned a lot from this
exercise.

| Another dynamics course run.
|
| George Peniche's (CA) turbocharged NSX.
|
| Wayne Mello (CA) was an instructor for the drivers school so
he brought his 944 to run during the instructors lap sessions.
|
| Mark Johnson (CA) of Dali Racing installs a radiator protector
(Smart Shield).
|
| Comptech cars, lunch tent in the background.
|
| The "Mother's Day Brunch" was delicious. It featured
Eggs Benedict, Chorizo and Berry Crepes!

|
| Left to right: Ben Miller (CA) of CSi Imports, and Gus
"The Flying Dutchman" Toth (The Netherlands). Gus has been competing in the
European NSX Trophy series for several years. He came over for NSXPO with his brother
Alex.

NSX coupe.

The next several pictures were taken using the
"rapid fire" feature on the digital camera. Pretty interesting..

| Through turn 9. For some reason the camera decided to go with
a slower shutter speed which blurred the background on this shot so it looks pretty cool.
|
| Another shot of turn 9, but this time it used a much faster
shutter speed and there's no motion blur.
|

|
| Kin Mitra (GA) is followed by Mike Bergman's fully
race-prepped car through the corkscrew.
|
| That's the end of the track event! It was unbelievably fun. It
turns out that the corkscrew, which looked so intimidating, wasn't much of a problem. The
tricky turns were elsewhere (9, 11, 2 for most people I talked to).
|
| Most people left after the track event but a couple dozen
stuck around - either because they had a late flight or (like myself) were planning to
stay at the hotel Sunday night and leave Monday. So I made a dinner reservation at a
restaurant down in the wharf area.
|
| About 20 people went to dinner. The food was very good and the
company was great. I'm heading to San Francisco in the morning, but this is the end of
NSXPO.. by far the largest yet. It was great to see old friends again and meet many new
ones. I hope you will join us in Atlanta for NSXPO 2000!
