Passing through Haight-Ashbury on the way out of town |
| It was a little foggy but I thought I'd head back down the Pacific Coast
Highway anyway. There's a cool rock bridge formation in this picture.
| Just taking some pictures to pass the time.
| I liked Cafe Nepenthe (the restaurant the SoCal to Monterey caravan
stopped at for drinks on the way to NSXPO) so much that I stopped there for lunch on my
way back. There was a cool purple vintage Cadillac parked out front.
| This is the restroom in the gift shop downstairs.
| I felt sort of funny taking pictures of the restroom but it was pretty
cool.
| I bet I'm not the first one to take pictures.
| Back on the PCH and behind two police trucks.
| The scenery is great but traffic is heavy. It would be well after
midnight by the time I get to San Diego at this rate.
| So I cut across and headed towards the 5 freeway. I got the evil eye
from a passing patrol car when I was stopped to take this photo, but I was the only other
car in sight so I guess he realized I wasn't hurting anything by stopping.
| The transition from the coast inland to I-5 was interesting. The hills
got smaller and smaller...
| ..the roads got straighter and straighter, and it got hotter and
hotter...
| Totally out of the hills now. Mr. Accelerator, meet Mr. Floor!
| Oil wells. Lots and lots of oil wells.
| Finally made it! Actually I didn't arrive until after dark; I took this
picture the next morning before I headed to the airport for my flight home.
