Acura Officially Unveils 2002 NSX -  The Acura division of American Honda officially released the US version of the 2002 NSX in January. The car is virtually identical to the refreshed model which was officially released in Japan a month prior. The 2002 models are now available at dealers.

LA Auto Show - The nice folks at American Honda arranged for NSX owners to check out the new 2002 NSX before leaving for LA Autoshow to see the official debut of the US version of the lightly redesigned model.

Pahrump Track Event #2 - Another birthday, this time Peter Madnick, was a perfect excuse to hold another track event! So the southwest guys hit Pahrump once again to celebrate. (NV)

NSXers at Roebling - Several NSXers showed up for the Chin Motorsports track event at Roebling Road, a 9 turn 2.02 mile SCCA track just west of beautiful Savannah GA.

Festival of Exotic Cars - Eight NSXs, including this new 2002 Imola Orange car, and a number of owners gathered in the very rainy, very cold weather for the Festival of Exotic Cars  in Mt. Dora, FL

BaschBoost Demo Day in San Fran - There was a very strong turnout for a demo of the new BaschBoost supercharger system in the San Francisco area.

EVO Magazine Reviews 2002 NSX - The British magazine EVO reviewed the lightly redesigned 2002 NSX in their March issue. While they are full of praise for the car's performance and feel, they are skeptical about the look of the new headlights. You can read the full review on their website.

Autocrossing in San Diego - A bunch of NSX owners attended an autocross event at Qualcomm stadium in San Diego, CA. Several participated in the event while the rest just wanted to meet some fellow owners in the area.

NSteXpo 2002 - Over two dozen NSXs and about twice as many people participated in NSteXpo in Dallas, TX. Included among the many other events was a dyno day featuring Comptech, Gruppe M and Basch Boost supercharged cars! (TX)

Florida Trackfest (2 days, 2 tracks) - Chin Motorsports held a great two-tracks-in-two-days event which was attended by many Florida NSXers. Homestead on Saturday followed by Sebring on Sunday made for one heck of a fun-filled weekend for all who participated.

NSXs at Sachsenring in Germany - A handful of NSXs turned out for a drivers school at drivers school at the Sachsenring track in Germany. The event was jointly sponsored by Honda Motor Europe (North) GmbH and the NSX & Honda Sportcars Club. 

 

April 23 Northwest Thunderhill Track Event - The Sacramento chapter of the NSX Club of America held a track event at Thunderhill racetrack in northern California. A good number of NSXs turned out for some high-speed fun. (CA)

April 27 Northwest NSX Poker Rally in Washington - Around two dozen Seattle area NSX fans met to participate in Park Place's first ever NSX Poker Rally. David Crenshaw, the host and event organizer, explained a nine station poker rally, in which NSX drivers and navigators would acquire their best poker hand by visiting a minimum of five card stations scattered across the scenic countryside in Washington's scenic Snoqualmie Valley. A hot dog and burger cookout closed out the day along with a final group photo and some great memories

NSX in 2002 One Lap of America - Jon York and Armand Puig will be contenders in the 2002 One Lap of America, campaigning a 1993 NSX. Sponsored by ScienceofSpeed, Jon's NSX appears to be a formidable and reliable platform for a serious competitive chance in the SSGT1 category of the One Lap Of America event. The One Lap race (www.onelapofamerica.com) kicks off May 3 and competitors will cover 5200 miles and 17 track events non-stop over the course of 8 days. Good luck Jon and Armand!

Supercharger Dyno Day Results - Eric R. from Texas compiled the results of the NSteXpo 2002 dyno day event. Included for the first time at one dyno event were cars with superchargers from Comptech, Gruppe M and Basch Boost. See and discuss the results here.

Pulp Racing NSX Takes 4th in OTC - The Pulp Racing NSX gang, with drivers  Doug Hayashi, Wayne Mello and Erik Messley, placed 4th overall and 2nd in their class in the 2002 Open Track Challenge event, which covered seven tracks across the southwest in seven days. Congratulations guys!

Team NSX Takes 6th in OTC - Team NSX, with drivers Greg Hardee and Mark Allan, placed 3rd in their class and 6th overall in the 2002 Open Track Challenge event, which covered seven tracks across the southwest in seven days. Congratulations guys! (NV/CA)

Honda Releases New NSX-R in Japan - Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the release of the NSX-R, a pure sports edition of the NSX with further enhanced driving performance. The original NSX-R, released as a pure sports model in November 1992, enjoyed a three-year limited production run. Now, seven years later, it is being reintroduced in an all-new form.

RTR Hosts NSX Owners at Lime Rock - RealTime Racing hosted over a dozen NSX owners in the paddock during the weekend of the Speed World Challenge race at Lime Rock Park. (CT)

DynoDay @ CyberNation Motorsports - Cybernation Motorsports in Fort Lauderdale, FL recently installed a new Dynojet and threw a party to celebrate! They offered dyno contests, a car show, one free dyno pull to NSXs, Moroso tickets, prizes, music, food and entertainment. Several NSX owners attended and reported that it was a lot of fun. (FL)

2nd Annual NSX Prime Member Canyon Drive - The second annual NSX Prime Member Canyon Drive in California was a big success with around 50 people in 30 NSXs turning out for this filled-to-capacity event. RealTime Racing T-Shirts - RealTime Racing (RTR), the seven-time SPEED World Challenge Champions, have introduced an exciting new T-shirt design featuring the RTR GT NSX and RSX. The T-shirts are available at most Acura dealers. If there is no participating dealer in your area, they will sell you one directly. NSX Prime strongly encourages everyone who cares about the NSX to support RTR by buying and wearing a T-shirt. P.D. Cunningham and the rest of RTR promote the NSX by successfully campaigning it in the World Challenge series and they have also gone to great lengths to support the NSX owners community over the years.

NSX Dominates JGTC Round 4 - In the first-ever JGTC Championship round on foreign soil, the Mobil 1 Honda NSX-R took a convincing pole-to-win victory in the intense Malaysian summer heat. The car, driven by Ralph Firman and Tsugio Matsuda, romped to a decisive victory after 54 laps from a field of 39 starters.

June 28-30 Florida Florida NSX "Summer Basch" - 25 NSXs plus a few other cars and 60 people turned out for the Florida NSX Summer "Basch". The event took place on the weekend following installation of ten Basch Boost NSX superchargers during the week. There was a riverboat sunset dinner cruise, a 155 drive through the most entertaining roads in the area, a trip to Fantasy of Flight for lunch, touring and photos, dinner at the Mission Inn, and a tour of Orlando.

European NSXers at Monza - Several of European NSX owners met at Monza Autodromo in Italy for the NSX Trophy event.

Raleigh, NC Basch Boost Install Party - A couple dozen NSX owners and enthusiasts got together in Raleigh, NC during the week-long installation of half a dozen superchargers. Jason Weaver also organized a great NSX dinner at the Angus Barn restaurant in Raleigh.

RealTime NSX in D.C. GT Race - Several Mid-Atlantic area NSX enthusiasts met NSX race driver Peter Cunningham in Washington, DC on July 20 as part of the National Grand Prix. Peter raced in the Speed Challenge, starting 7th and managing a 4th place finish despite being rear-ended early in the race by a competitor. Lunch was provided at the RealTime Racing tent by Pohanka Acura and the NSXCA. After lunch Peter spoke briefly about the car and the race and answered questions. Despite the heat, the event was a great chance for NSX enthusiasts to meet one another and see our favorite car in action.

San Diego NSX BBQ and Drive - Several NSX owners got together in San Diego for a weekend BBQ and canyon drive.

August 9-11 Midwest Buckeye Rock-In - A nice sized group of NSXers turned out for the NSX Buckeye Rock-In event in Cleveland. Activities included dinner at the Hornblowers Barge & Grill on Friday night, a drive through the countryside, lunch at The Inn at Honey Run and a tour of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame on Saturday, and a morning drive and pancake breakfast on Sunday. August 10 Northeast 2nd Annual Tri-State Poker Rally - There was a great turnout for the 2nd Annual Poker Rally in Warwick, NY. With a final count of 21 NSX's there was a nice variety of color including some of the rarer colors such as Monte Carlo Blue, Midnight Pearl, Brooklands Green and Kaiser Silver. The rally was 110 miles, and traveled through an area called "Hawks Nest" which is used for automotive photo shots for ads. (NY)

September 14 Northwest Tochigi Dyno Day in San Jose - This dyno event was the first for the South Bay chapter of the NSXCA. Held at DynoSpot Racing in San Jose early in the morning, there were several NSXs as well as a couple other cars. (CA)

September 22 Southwest Acura PV Concours d'Elegance - For the second year, Acura was the title sponsor of the Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance, overlooking the spectacular Pacific at Ocean Trails Golf Club. Acura invited NSX owners to showcase their cars in a special display area and provided an exclusive owner VIP hospitality area with complimentary, gourmet food and hosted bar. (CA)

NSX Owners Club of Hong Kong Celebrates 3rd Anniversary - The NSX Owners Club of Hong Kong celebrated the club's third anniversary. 28 NSXs attended and the owners enjoyed a BBQ dinner.

 

September 30 Northwest Napa Valley Cruise & Lunch - The NSX and S2000 folks got together for a nice drive and lunch in Napa Valley including tours of a winery.

 

October 5 Europe Black Forest Drive - Eleven NSXers from different parts of Europe got together for a drive through the scenic Schwarzwald (Black Forest) part of Germany.

October 11 Southeast Speed World Challenge Race - P.D. Cunningham drove the #42 RealTime NSX to a win at Road Atlanta in round 9 of the GT class of the Speed World Challenge series. Cunningham swept the round by also winning the Touring class in the RealTime Integra the same day. A number of NSX owners got together at the race.

October 19 Northwest Autozotica - A big group of NSXers turned out for the huge Autozotica event in California. The event included exotic cars of all types with an informal show, drive and lunch.

World Challenge Race @ VIR - Peter Cunningham finished the season with a race at Virginia International Raceway in both the GT class (in which he drivers the #42 NSX) and Touring class (in which he drives an Integra).

November 6-10 National NSXPO 2002 - The annual national NSX Club meet, NSXPO 2002, took place in the Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas area with five days of social events, technical seminars, indoor karting, group drives, a concours, vendor displays, two track days at Motorsport Ranch and wrapped up with a bonus track day at Texas Motor Speedway. Over 125 people and 80 NSXs were in attendance.

November 16-17 JAPAN NSX Fiesta 2002 - NSX Fiesta in Japan, the largest annual NSX meet in the world, was a big success. A few people from the US attended and enjoyed a variety of activities such as Suzuka track drives, parade laps and photo-ops with JGTC, autocross, car control clinics, seminars, test drives, meals, vendor salon,  JGTC race at Suzuka, visits to NSX assembly plant (Tochigi), Honda Museum and other facilties (Motegi) as well as several Toyko-area NSX specialty shops (MACS, AUTOBACS, Taitec, Advance, etc).

Midwest Fall Brunch - 11 NSX’s, met at The Last Detail  for coffee and donuts, and to look at some of the ultra rare cars that reside there. Then the group took a leisurely drive to Lake Geneva where everyone enjoyed a wonderful brunch with 16 NSXers present, including 2 new club members.

Mid-Atlantic NSX Meet - Pohanka Acura sponsored a mid-Atlantic NSX event that drew 18 NSX's and almost 30 attendees. Lunch at the dealership was followed by a drive through the scenic horse country nearby. After the drive, several NSXers competed in a kart race at Allsports GrandPrix, with Eddie Whitman as the winner. NSX Takes 1st at Toronto Importfest - Johnny Matharu took first place at Importfest 2002 in the Toronto Skydome with his yellow NSX-T.
