I made a pit stop in Nashville to visit NSX technician extraordinaire
Barney Demonbreun at Gary Force Acura. |
|
It rained all Monday evening and Tuesday morning. I was sort of annoyed
since my car hasn't been driven in the rain since I bought it a couple years
ago. Ah, the sacrifices we must make! |
|
This is a gas station in Texas. You probably can't tell in the picture,
but the gas pumps are about 12" higher than anywhere else in the country.
You have to reach UP to use the pay-at-the-pump buttons. |
|
There were only two NSXs other than those belonging to the event
organizers in the parking lot when I arrived at the hotel Tuesday afternoon.
Talk about being early to the party! It was actually pretty nice as I had
time to check in, get all my stuff set up in the room, catch up on e-mail,
go fill the car up with gas, take a shower, etc. before others started to
trickle in. |
|
The hotel is pretty nice, but has no Ethernet access in the rooms. The
jacks are there but they are not plugged into anything on the other end yet
(I checked!), so as a result I'm mostly going to upload only 640x480
resolution pictures. I will probably update them with high-res versions
later. We are also 20 miles from anything
other than the track as far as I can tell. |
|
The entrance to the parking lot at the hotel thoughtfully includes both
a skid pad (middle of picture) and drag strip (behind and going off to the
top left of the circle). How considerate! |
|
The hotel is directly across from TMS. It is enormous. This is the view
out my hotel window. |
|
The Phoenix caravan arrives at the hotel. |
|
Miled in the early stages of washing his car. Notice that it is
completely sunny. |
|
2002 NSX engine bay. |
|
2002 under front hood |
|
2002 front radiator intake area. Note the mesh. |
|
Now there are some more NSXs in the parking lot. By the way, it was
REALLY windy today. That is one thing that just doesn't come through in
pictures. |
|
Mementos? Not one, not two, but THREE this year! We got a bottle wine
(red or white) from Delaney Vinyards here in Texas... |
|
... a nice folding chair... |
|
...and a leather portfolio bag, all with the NSXPO 2002 logo. |
|
The stuff that was in the bag. Maps, schedules, decals, and giveaways
from some fuel and oil additives vendor that I believe is a sponsor of NSXPO
this year. |
|
Miled still washing his car... notice that he is now mostly in the
shade. He kept going after this, and that was just the wash. Tomorrow he
plans to polish, clean and wax. |

We ended the evening with dinner at Fogo de Chão, a great
Brazilian restaurant near Dallas. It is a small chain with restaurants in
Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre in Brazil as well as Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Houston
in the US. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. If you ever get the chance, I strongly recommend it. Thanks to Miled
for taking us. www.fogodechao.com |
