Park Place Ltd. NSX Poker RallyReport by Ashley Glennon, 1999 Red/Black NSX-TEvent name: NSX Poker Rally Around two dozen Seattle area NSX fans met on Saturday, April 27th to participate in Park Place's first ever, NSX Poker Rally. David Crenshaw, the host and event organizer, explained a nine station poker rally, in which NSX drivers and navigators would acquire their best poker hand by visiting a minimum of five card stations scattered across the scenic countryside in Washington's scenic Snoqualmie Valley. The day kicked off with some introductions, the car lineup, general browsing and admiration, and a look at a souped-up NSX provided by Chris of Science of Speed. After the rules were explained, questions answered and a few appropriate promotional mentions made, the cars took of in one to two minute increments. A scant hour and a half later, all eleven NSX's and one participating Porsche, had returned to Park Place with cards in hand, and a pack of tales to tell. Awards were presented for best poker hand, fastest time, slowest time and for a variety of other fun variations that insured all participants walked away with something nice. A hot dog and burger cookout closed out the day along with a final group photo and some great memories. A big thanks to David Crenshaw--who can hook up any NSX fan with a great car--and to the other folks at Park Place for putting on a nice event. I believe I can say on behalf of all who attended that we look forward to the next NSX rally! |
