I know we are suppose to let a master tech change the timing belt and water pump but has anybody attempted to change it themselves? If so, pls share your experience. thanks in advance
If you are a competent wrench, comfortable with the innards of complicated stuff, go for it. If you don't feel 100% comfortable with your own work, don't do it. The price of failure is pretty high. It took me about 14 hours total. I could shave 4 hours off the next time. Make sure you have an actual crank pulley tool. That bolt was a monster to get loose on my car. Easy with the correct tool. This is one of those jobs that would be SO MUCH EASIER if the engine were out of the car. Happy wrenching!
