>OK, let's just say for a moment you bunch of pampered, overpaid,
>unrealistic children had your way and the U.S.A. didn't go into Iraq.
>
>Let's say that you really get your way and we destroy all our nuclear
>weapons and stick daisies in our gun barrels and sit around with some white
>wine and cheese and pat ourselves on the back, so proud of what we've done
>for world peace.
>
>Let's say that we cut the military budget to just enough to keep the
>National Guard on hand to help out with floods and fires.
>
>Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and
>bring the troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade
>sanctions against everybody.
>
>I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world
>where everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the
>United States of America, the cause of all the world's trouble would have
>disbanded it's horrible military and certainly all the other countries of
>the world would follow suit. After all, they only arm themselves to defend
>their countries from the mean old U.S.A.
>
>Why you bunch of pitiful, hypocritical, idiotic, spoiled mugwumps. get your
>head out of the sand and smell the Trade Towers burning. Do you think that
>a trip to Iraq by Sean Penn did anything but encourage a wanton murderer to
>think that the people of the U.S.A. didn't have the nerve or the guts to
>fight him?
>
>Barbara Streisand's fanatical and hateful rankings about George Bush makes
>about as much sense as Michael Jackson hanging a baby over a railing.
>
>You people need to get out of Hollywood once in a while and get out into
>the real world. You'd be surprised at the hostility you would find out
>here. Stop in at a truck stop and tell an overworked, long distance truck
>driver that you don't think Saddam Hussein is doing anything wrong. Tell a
>farmer with a couple of sons in the military that you think the United
>States has no right to defend itself. Go down to Baxley, Georgia and hold
>an anti-war rally and see what the folks down there think about you. Please
>visit Clarksville, Tennessee and the 101st Airborne and talk that S*IT,
>please visit those Real American's.
>
>You people are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of
>protoplasm I've ever had the displeasure to hear about.
>
>Sean Penn, you're a traitor to the United States of America. You gave aid
>and comfort to the enemy. How many American lives will your little, "fact
>finding trip" to Iraq cost? You encouraged Saddam to think that we didn't
>have the stomach for war. You people protect one of the most evil men on
>the face of this earth and won't lift a finger to save the life of an
>unborn baby.
>
>Freedom of choice you say?
>
>Well, I'm going to exercise some freedom of choice of my own. If I see any
>of your names on a marquee, I'm going to boycott the movie. I will
>completely stop going to movies if I have to. In most cases it certainly
>wouldn't be much of a loss.
>
>You scoff at our military who's boots you're not even worthy to shine. They
>go to battle and risk their lives so ingrates like you can live in luxury.
>
>The day of reckoning is coming when you will be faced with the undeniable
>truth that the war against Saddam Hussein is the war on terrorism.
>
>America is in imminent danger. You're either for her or against her. There
>is no middle ground. I think we all know where you stand. I will stand with
>the soldiers, airmen, and sailors. The hard working men and women of this
>great country. Not the overpaid, pansy a*s, Hollywood wimp wanna be's, and
>has beens, who can't hold a candle to real American's, the middle class
>blue collar workers.
>
>What do you think? Boycott any Hollywood type that protests against the
>USA.
>
>God Bless America

I am boycotting any and all Michael Moore's movies and products.

Michael Moore is practically walking the thin line between ultimate stupid protestor and an out-and-out traitor. If he disagrees with the US government so much that he calls our President an "fictional" president, he deserves to be deported, or at least remove himself from the country he claims to hate so much.

As for the other Hollywood types, let's say other than their acting jobs, anything out of their mouth is nothing but wasted air.

Maybe his speech was a little over the top...

But does that mean you're going to stop watching movies, TV, and stop reading magazines? If you did, u'd certainly be the outcast among all your peers...

Just because someone's face is plastered on the TV, or billboards, doesnt make them any different to you or me. It just gives them the ability to have their voice heard by more people than the average person.

I'm not an actor, producer, director or anyone that has anything to do with entertainment. But I know that without entertainment, this country would be one boring place to be. Take a moment and remove movies, TV, and every other theatrical event from history... what else is there to talk about that's not murder, death, & rape?

No one can generalize hollywood, or any other group of people in one specific profession into one lump catagory... and if they try, they're sadly ignorant.

Its like saying "All post office workers are likely to go on a shooting rampage"... now everyone knows that's not true.

So how about you chill with the brash generalizations and talk about something you have some sort of experience with.

Maybe without entertainment, this country would be a lot more productive and healthier.

Remember, there used to be a time when people enjoyed each other's company rather than being glued to a TV.

GREAT ADVICE!!!!

Peace is popular. Everyone wants it. Nobody wants to get killed or have friends killed. Peace is the easiest thing in the world to support. Making friends with your enemies sounds great. Sorting out our differences is the best solution. When we shake hands the conflict is behind us.

If we refuse to fight, we wont get hurt.

Wouldnt that be great? The voices out of Hollywood think so. Good thing they live in a country where these illusions can remain unchallenged. In the meantime, the rest of us will work hard, compete, and even fight in order to preserve their beliefs.

I found a few interesting notes from after Moore receiving his award. The guy has lost touch with reality.

From Foxnews:
Moore told me when he returned from the press room that Sean Penn had given him some advice. "He said I should say, 'Everyone who believes in the bombing should stand up,'" Moore recalled. Instead, he spoke to the other documentary nominees during the commercial break prior to their time. "I said, what do you think if no matter who wins we all go up there? Everyone agreed, it’s never been done before."

"What [the critics] don’t get is that I have the will of the people. The No. 1 bestselling book in this country for over 52 weeks is Stupid White People," Moore claimed, referring to his published rant against corporate America. "That’s not because they disagree with me, is it?"

Quote from an interesting article on Michael Moore's "documentary":

"The Michael Moore production "Bowling for Columbine" just won the Oscar for best documentary. Unfortunately, it is not a documentary, by the Academy's own definition....Bowling fails the first requirement of a documentary: some foundation in the truth. In his earlier works, Moore shifted dates and sequences for the sake of drama, but at least the events depicted did occur. Most of the time, anyway. Bowling breaks that last link with factual reality. It makes its points by deceiving and by misleading the viewer. Statements are made which are false. Moore invites the reader to draw inferences which he must have known were wrong. Dates are transposed and video carefully edited to create whatever effect is desired. Indeed, even speeches shown on screen are heavily edited, so that sentences are assembled in the speaker's voice, but which he never uttered."

Entire article is here.

All the rhetoric on whether or not we should go to war against Iraq has got my insane little brain spinning like a roulette wheel. I enjoy reading opinions from both sides, but I have detected a hint of confusion from some of you.

As I was reading the paper recently, I was reminded of the best advice someone ever gave me. He told me about the KISS method ("Keep it Simple, Stupid"). So, with this as a theme, I'd like to apply this theory for those who don't quite get it. My hope is that we can simplify things a bit and recognize a few important facts.

Here are 10 things to consider when voicing an opinion on this important issue:

1) President Bush and Saddam Hussein....Hussein is the bad guy.

2) If you have faith in the United Nations to do the right thing, keep this in mind ; They have Libya heading the Committee on Human Rights and Iraq heading the Global Disarmament Committee. Do your own math here.

3) If you use Google Search and type in "French
Military Victories," your reply will be "Did you mean French Military Defeats?" ( try this, It is interesting )

4) If your only anti-war slogan is "No war for oil,"sue your school district for allowing you to slip through the cracks and robbing you of the education you deserve.

5) Saddam and Bin Laden will not seek United Nations approval before they try to kill us.

6) Despite what some seem to believe, Martin Sheen is NOT the President. He just plays one on TV.

7) Even if you are anti-war, you are still an"Infidel" and Bin Laden wants you dead, too.
(EXCELLENT POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

8) If you believe in a "vast right-wing conspiracy," but not in the danger that Hussein poses, quit hanging out with the Dell computer dude.

9) We are not trying to liberate them.

10) Whether you are for military action, or against it, our young men and women overseas are fighting for us to defend our right to speak out. We all need to support them without reservation.

I hope this helps.

Ignorant!

It looks like Hollywood actors biggest accomplishment is graduating from High School.

ok, i'll bite;

yes, stereotypes are never universally true. i'd hope everybody here knows that already.

but arent you disturbed that nearly all voices out of hollywood are anti-war and anti-Bush? If Hollywood wants us to think differently, the rest of them should start speaking up. When you are in the public eye, what your associates say sticks to you. And what you dont say speaks volumes.

blah blah blah

This is one of the silliest posts I've seen on NSXprime. You could do the same thing for any group of people (even NSXprime members, or members of Congress). Pick out a characteristic, list the members of the group that share that characteristic, and make it sound like that characteristic applies to everyone in the group.

There are plenty of actors who went to college. Plenty who graduated college. And some of them even graduated from the finest colleges in the country, including Princeton (Brooke Shields, David Duchovny) and Yale (Jodie Foster), which is the President's alma mater.

Picking out the actors who didn't graduate college and listing them doesn't "prove" anything.

Of course, you could pick out the actors who went to Ivy League colleges and list them, and that wouldn't prove anything, either.

AKUDOU, apparently you didn't bother to read the link from tmeekins.

DENNIS MILLER DIDN'T WRITE THE RANT THAT YOU POSTED.

What you posted is simply an "urban legend", one of those stories that sounds like it's true, but it's not.

You didn't do your homework; you simply posted something you heard, just because you wanted to believe it was true, and you never bothered to check. Shame on you for not checking a source before posting it. And shame on you again for not realizing your error when tmeekins pointed it out to you.
