Well it lasted about a month are so unmolested, but now its getting the full treatment. Spa yellow '02.
I already have done the following:
Taitec JGTC parallel out ( pain to get, but worth it)
Comptech cold air box

I am adding on the following, install date two weeks from now:
Comptech Supercharger, I chose this over the Basch for the seemingly more proven track records as well as the warranty

Comptech Headers:
Curry's Auto in VA.. is probably going to do the work, they recommended using the headers with the supercharger to deal with the increased pressure created by the SC.

Eibach lowering springs, Comptech sway bar: Is this a mistake? I know it looks better lowered but does it rub every speed bump.. sometimes such things are unavoidable.

Well that's it, lemme know if I am missing anything huge... I want to do it all at once.

Thanks.

I put a Comptech supercharger on my '00 and I love it, I am sure you will be happy with yours also.

When I put mine on about 1 1/2 years ago I talked to Mark Basch and he said with the '97+ that headers and exhaust wasn't really necessary. I did change to the Taitec exhaust just to improve the sound though.

Have fun and good luck!

NEWS ALERT!!!!

The grapevine has it in Raleigh- that the Basch SC is showing 400+ hp (rear wheel dyno) from a stock 92 NSX (former 270hp from the engine) with only headers & cat back installed..... wet those appetites ladies and watchout CompTech!!!..eat your hearts out!!!! I'm sure the dyno chart will be put on the website soon!

Also Mark is a very nice guy!!!

Qustion for all you 'charger performance upgrade owners - did you declare to insurance & what was the impact (% change to premium)? How do they generally react to mods like this?
With the kind of money invested in a premium car I would personally hate to lose it if insurance failed to pay because mods were undeclared.
Technically I would think any mods from stock should be declared, but I don't think, in practice they would get overly excited over "lesser" mods, like headers, exhaust etc - but 'charger is a significant change (100+ hp potential). So I'm curious about how insurance companies react to modified street-going cars.
I would suspect many go undeclared, maybe less so in this high-rolling community!
(please don't compromise youself uneccesarily - plead the 5th if appropriate! - interested in insurance reaction of those who have declared)

I guess when someone gets a supercharger and nitrous, they have to register the car with the FBI, since it has the potential to be a weapon of terror. Enjoy 'em 'til they get outlawed!

"I'm sorry Senator, I have no recollection of that......"

Insurance doesn't care how much HP you have. At least State Farm doesn't. Just keep full documentation of everything bolted into the car so insurance will cover it in case the car is ever stolen or destroyed. If you do your own labor, they recommended documenting it at the time and also taking pictures to show it was actually intalled on that specific car. My premiums are the same as if my car was stock.

I was also looking to get some work done and looked up curry auto, but there are two of them in the area! Is the one you are going to on Sullyfield Cir. or Fieldsman Ln. Maybe they are the same? One is named Curry Auto Svc Inc. and the other simply Curry Auto Svc. They are both in Chantilly too! What is up with that

02NSX-

Just returned from Raliegh after getting my BBSC installed on my 91. It is oh so fast. I will be posting a seperate thread documenting the particulars of my experience.

Carguy's statement about the 97 and up oem headers are far superior to the earlier manifold style headers. Your performance gain will be fractional and in my opinion not worth the price tag of 1500-1700 for Comptech headers. Btw, I have them installed on my car so I do believe in the product. That $1700 could be spent on the intercooler for the BBSC, giving you solid performance gains and very tasty cold air. For the price of the comptech kit, you could have both the BBSC w/ intercooler option and a much faster car.

In your case you could use the header $ for the Comptech 9 psi upgrade. This will give you a more tangible performance increase. I think most would agree that for your car 1500+ could be better spent, but the Comptech headers are a great product.

As a side note, I hope you do get the Comptech. I would be very interested to see how the 02 with a Comptech SC performs side by side with a 91 powered by the BBSC. Since you live in my backyard, we could go to a track and do straight line runs from a dig and some lap testing. I would put my money on the BBSC

At any rate, this would be valuable to the whole NSX community evaluating these products.
