Anyone have thoughts on Gruppe M SC who's driven it a bit?It doesn't seem to come up much in these discussions.Aside from its monstrous appearance which I kind of like,It seems from graphs to have the best low-end torque of the three SC.Any seat of the pants observations?

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know how many are installed in the US?

My understanding / opinion is that it is the best tuned supercharger on the road. From the dyno, testimonials, and seeing it up close, and seeing it run you really have to appreciate the engineering and engine tuning that went into this thing.

It is really a work of art until...

You put that damn thing on an NSX engine. Then it looks like someone was trying to play that game "mousetrap" with an NSX engine. I keep wondering where to put that little "pinball" to start the game.

I personally just can't stand that type of in your face for all to see supercharger. The BBSC wins the "packaging" game for the supers with the CTSC barely getting a passing grade IMO. The Gruppe M unit just looks like some kind of Mad Maxx tribute IMO but in no worse then some of the in your face, is that the turbo or the engine turbo chargers.

If asthetics do not matter or you like the looks - it definately should be on your "shopping" list for well engineered, well supported, reliable, streetable FI.

Odd ordering sequence. Based on the pictures we posted on northwest.nsxca.org, the late model CTSC is most likely to pass for stock, followed by the BBSC and then the GruppeM. The better turbo installations looked better still because most of their guts were hidden. Guess we don't share a common sense of aesthetics...

Very nice job and great picks!

The power curve is pretty impressive from 4.5k up but what's with the ugly A/F curve? Man, flatten that out and you'll be cookin. Looks like an ideal situation for another $1400 for an AEM.

BTW, at least one of your captions is reversed left-right.

Just me being curious here, I noticed the alternator pulley is much bigger and the crank pulley is about the same size. Are they under driving the alternator?

Also isn't the harmonic balancer built into the stock crank pulley? It makes me uneasy removing those.

I agree Number9 - I am referring to the top mounted with 50 feet of plumbing turbos or where the packaging is all too obvious.

The hands down winner for aesthetics is still the Bell kit - which is temporarily out of production until the Aerodyne issue is resolved or replaced. The single turbos mounted low also are looking very nice in prototype. That said I understand why people mount the turbo high or the A/A intercoolers above the engine - just at some point you have to decide if you can stand looking at it too every day. I also acknowledge some people love the flashy look or the CompTech on top of the engine look (at least they tried to make it look cool). It is just that at some point it starts to detract from the look of the engine IMO. The Basch unit off to the side still looks best of the current supers IMO as it cleans up an otherwise ugly coolant bottle and puts the super to the side - rather then on top of the engine.

To each their own - consider yourself lucky if you own any of these as I am sure it adds to the acceleration and ownership experience of the car.

Just to clear things up a bit...The car on this web site is not mine. I linked that to show Brad the install pics on the GruppeM unit. After reading my post, it does sound like it was my install.

I agree with Number9.

The Comptech setup is the most stock-appearing unit available. It looks as though it came integrated from the factory.

I saw a club member's NSX with Gerry Johnson's single turbo kit last Saturday. The intercooler and the turbo are both hidden under the trunk near the exhaust, and one has to get down on the ground in order to see the parts. One could not tell the car had a turbo simply by viewing the engine bay which appears stock.

Very stealthy!!!

The cybernation turbo setup also mounts up under the rear valence.Engine bay looks stock except for a bit of piping coming in where airbox was.I was in Ft. Lauderdale today & stopped to look at it.Very impressive.Drove it.Amazing!!!It's been about 9 hrs.ago now & I'm still grinning!

How is this S/C doing these days? I remember Alex's car overheating up the front straight at RoadAmerica.

whew

Been a long time since I viewed these boards, life taking its tolls I suppose.

At anyrate, just thought I would throw a post out here.

I have 29,000+ miles now on my Gruppe M, and still I have had ZERO problems, no leaks, cracks, compression problems, oil problems, zero nada zip ... its been flawless.

I have even removed it 2 times (installing other mods), and re-installed it and still it just keeps running as it should.

For those that forgot what it looks like, you can view it here:

Im currently in the process of doing my next round of engine modifications, which involve the Gruppe M ... as soon as I finalize what I want to do and how it turns out, I'll post...

Until then ... ciao :)
