I know that there is a new forum where this topic most likely belongs, but it has always been one of my desires to post a topic of this headline on the general forums where previous new owners have posted.

So before you move this post, please let me share in my newfound joy and marvel in the spotlight if just for a lil bit. :) I have just picked up today a 1997 certified red nsx. I am still in shock and it has not sunken in yet that I am an nsx owner. I was pressured by others to buy a Mercedes Clk500, but stuck with my dream car and glad I did.

I do not know many of you personally, but have been checking out this website for quite awhile while saving for an nsx. I am just as exciting in telling you all about my new acquistion as I have in telling my friends about it. I hope to create some new friendships with people in this forum as well as helping others in find their own nsx. Okay, you can move this post now. I am done talking and will resume gawking at the nsx.

Congrats!! When I picked up mine, I was in shock so much that I can't even believe that it's parked in my garage for 3 days, and couldn't express the excitement even into words for a week.

It is an amazing feeling to own a dream car.Now you've got to take the week of 11/2 off and drive down to Tx. with the other N.E. nsxca members who are crazy enough to make the drive!

Where are the ten commandments of all NSX owners??

I KNOW NSXTASY has them on file.

Congrats on your new red NSX!

That day for me is still a long one. I will have to wait a year and a half for my NSX and already being pressured to buy a C5.

Have fun!

Big Congrats to kld12!

And Dan, DO NOT buy a C5 over an NSX. This is coming directly from a C5 owner.

Congratulations on your new NSX. Like you, the NSX has been a dreamcar for more than a decade for me and I still can't believe sometimes I actually own one right now.

Congratulations to your super sports car!
I’ve owned my 1991 for about 4 months now and although I use it almost daily I feel so happy every time I take it out from the garage.

Hey O-Ace, when are you finally going to join us in the darkside?

Soon my friend. Target is to have a 97+ Spa Yellow by May, 03'. It's tempting to buy one right now (I check eBay a few times a week) but I know it won't be too wise considering the Chicago winter is coming up fast.

I will join the dark side soon enough tho

Congrats on your purchase! Even two years after buying mine, I still experience a moment of disbelief when I enter the garage and see my dream car sitting there.

When I bought mine, I had no idea that there were groups like the NSXCA or places like NSX Prime...and, like you, I needed to find people that would share my enthusiasm for my new purchase. Needless to say, it didn't take long for me to pull up the Prime (my first post happened just days after I bought mine).

That's not my web page. That's Richard's.

you bought your 1992 brand new from a dealer in 2000(how can that be)?

I bought my 1991 NSX in December, 1990.

My understanding is that Richard bought a 1992 NSX that had indeed been sitting in a dealer showroom on Guam for eight years.

Sorry for the late reply. And your reasons why? Just trying to gather peoples' opinions and weigh out the pro and cons of both if you don't mind.

I also found if all goes well, I just may be able to afford a Z06. I still have a lot of time to think about it but I plan on test driving these cars in about a year. Ultimately, driving experience will be my biggest factor in deciding.

Here are just a few reasons:
1. Reliability is vitrually non-existant
2. There's always some glitch in the car which manages to tick me off; whether it be a electrical issue where the car doesn't start or one of the lights remaining stuck in the UP position
3. Interior sucks. You can start hearing the cracks/rattles within a year of buying the car. I bought mine new and speak from experience.
4. Sound system is horrible. In all fairness, it's good for the first few months, but then due to the craks/rattles, the souns system quality goes down the drain
4. the 00' and 01' models have an oil burning problem.
5. The 'worst' Acura service department will put the 'best' Chevy service department to shame.

Other than that, the car's pretty good

Thanks for the info!

I've been researching on the NSX's and they seem to be pretty good with reliability and no major surprises (except snap rings for previous models.)

The snap ring problem only affected the '92 models and a small fraction of '91 and '93 models. They are identifiable by transmission number. I wouldn't be afraid to buy one, but I would strictly follow the advice given by Mark Basch here.

The other thing to make sure on the '91-92 (and some '93) cars is that the window regulators have been replaced or that the fix-it thingies have been installed, as illustrated here and described in the FAQ here.

Also make sure the timing belt and water pump have been replaced.
