Well, I finally made the jump and found my NSX! Thanks to everyone at the forum. I learned as much as I could before I looked at as many as possible.

Over the weekend I picked up my '91 black/black (5 speed) with 44,000 miles on it. Interior and exterior are near perfect, not in snap ring range, has all prior owner service records and a variety of services recently performed (timing belt, water pump, window regulators, speaker amp, etc.). Only alterations from stock are newer style 7 spoke rims and DC headers. It also came with a full extended warranty that has 2 years left on it! He also threw in a set of new porterfield pads, rotors, car cover, bra (won't use), extra stock radio (current radio works intermittently), original stock headers, and the window fix it thingies (installing tonight!).

Looking forward to meeting some fellow Orange County NSX owners! Already had a few blasts back in Trabuco Canyon and absolutely loving it.

If you are considering seven-spoke wheels for a Sebring Silver NSX, I would strongly recommend the '97-01 Blades Silver over the '94-96 Solaris Silver. The dull gunmetal Solaris Silver just won't go as well with the bright Sebring Silver paint job as the polished look of the Blades Silver. With other colored cars, either wheel would be okay, but not with the Sebring. Just my O.

7 spoke

nsxtasy.. thanks for the comeback.... the wheels I have an opportunity for are from an '02 .... which I believe are 17's all around. How do they differ from the 01's?

In addition to the size, they look different. These are the '02 wheels:

although they should have the Acura logo on the center caps where the Honda logo appears in the photo.

If they come with OEM tires, the tire model (RE040) and size (215/40-17, 255/40-17) are different too.

The '02 wheels won't fit on your '91 w/o 5mm H&R spacers in the front.

congrats. Hope you enjoy as much as i enjoy mine.

just curious guys. Anyone out there chromed/polished their stock 91-94 rims? I know it adds a little weight, but my diet should cover that.;) How does it look?

2002 Wheel Paint Color

I just bought a set of 2002 wheels. There is a slight scratch on one of them. Does anyone know what touch up paint could be used on them? I think the original 91-93 wheels are sebring silver. The 02 wheels look almost the same to me.

Thanks

John

On an NSX with a stock suspension height? Are you sure about that? I find it quite surprising. What happens when you put the '02 wheels on a '91 with stock suspension but without the spacers?

The 2002 wheels flare out from the hub at an angle. The 91-93 wheels come out at more of a right angle a clear around the brake caliper. The flare on 02 wheels would make contact with the caliper. The 5mm spacer moves the flare out and around the caliper.

This is my understanding. I have not even tried to fit the 02 wheels on yet. I am thinking of using 15mm adapters for a more agressive style, but I may stick with 5mm to stay closer to stock.

It's the calipers that doesn't clear. The spoke design of the '02s cause it to make contact. Since the '97+ has a slight difference in how the caliper actually sits, it does not make contact with the spoke. I learned this the hard way by installing the '02 wheels on my '95.

Lud,

Looks like that has already been covered. I knew I had seen that somewhere:D .

Has anyone here added the 15mm spacers front and back with the 2002 wheels? Any issues with rubbing?

RyRy210,

Are you still using the spacer or did you upgrade the caliper? Did you put 5mm on the rear also?

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification.

Oh, and Lud - you updated that FAQ recently. I had memorized the previous version, which didn't have that information. If you're going to keep it up to date, it's going to be even harder to memorize. Are you trying to keep me from reaching 10000 posts? :D

I replaced my '95 with an '01 so not using spacers anymore, but before I sold my '95 I just used 5mm spacers in the front to clear the calipers.

I have a 94NSX with 2002 rims.
I bought it like that so I'm assuming that the spacers were placed in the front.

I have had no problems with them whatsoever.
The handling is fantastic!

Roadster, you have pm.
