Alex Zanardi to Finish Race

hopefully rumors are true
Hopefully the rumors with Ford and AZ are true... if anyone has the skills and determination, Zanardi does.
Are these last 13 laps going to be more "parade"-ish, or will they be part of the actual CART race ?? Either way its a tremendous achievement and great tribute to one of the best that CART has had.

I've seen an NSX (automatic) modified with hand controls that a (Japanese) owner was driving on the track. Pretty cool... an example also sits in the Honda Collection Hall (museum in Motegi). Car had an integrated gas/brake control, which was hard to modulate initially, but can be mastered with practice. Some sort of independent control would be necessary to enable simulataneous throttle/brake application, particularly on a track.

Unfortunately, this won't be happening. But I hope we are surprised again.

YES! It has been confirmed by CART management today that this WILL BE HAPPENING. They even had a quick special on Alex Zanardi during qualifying that showed clips of him driving a hand-operated champcar and laying rubber leaving the pits!
