The world's coolest hose washer nozzle

Went to Sears this weekend and picked up the coolest thing. They make a washer nozzle that looks almost identicle to the one that Griot's Garage sells for $76.

Sears sells theirs for $20, on sale right now for $16.50. ($15 if you are a Craftsman Club Member) It is made of impact resistant rubber and aluminum. Guarenteed for life. It weighs a good pound, perhaps a little less.

I used it this weekend to spray the crap out of the eves of my house (cob-webs). The pencil spray was perfect for that. Can't wait to wash the car with it. I could probably peel the paint right off the car :)

Just an FYI

I am going to Sears!!

Hiroshama, thanks for the insight and cost savings.

I like my pressure washer ..... it saves water and gives me plenty of pressure to get the job done and Homedepot has there husky pressure washer rite now for $89 bucks..... how can u beat that.

Hah, lets see your pressure washer beat this nozzle!

Its infinitely variable between a gentle trickle to a wide fan all the way up to a super strong stream -- all with the twitch of the thumb! Its extremely lightweight, corrosion resistant and so portable that you can take it with you wherever you go. It works with any garden hose and comes in both left and right handed versions. And at this price, you cannot get a better deal!

Hey, Joe. Those are so great, i got me two of 'em.

Mr. Pilot. I just bought that pressure washer to wash the mold off my concrete. It works great, but I doubt I would ever use it to wash the painted surfaces of my car. It's real power is delivering the 1300psi to cut stuff off that normal pressure can't handle, and I would never hit my paint with something so powerful. Yeah, I don't have to hold the wand so close as to strip wax, peel paint etc, so then, what's the point of using it at a distance. Besides, my baby likes to be rubbed with a soft cloth, makes her feel loved. ;)

I bought this:

just recently. The sprayer that's included is pretty damn good. I mainly wanted the hose and didn't care about the sprayer but I ended up liking the sprayer more than the hose.

Fancy Water Nozzles

I tested the Griots version of this some time ago and wrote about it in NSX Driver the newsletter of the NSXCA. I don't like these heavy metal nozzles at all! The metal body can scratch the paint and if you drop it - the Griots version weighed over a pound and would cause a dent. I have not weighed the Sears version.

The best water nozzle for car washing, proven over years of detailing work, is a ball valve connected to an old hose end. Its soft and won't hurt the paint plus you can use your thumb to create a spray (before washing) or use the open hose end to create a stream of water for the final rinse. Can't be beat IMO.

I, too, have this nozzle. It's really great and VERY portable. I got it on sale for only $25! Some assembly required.

Justin, what do you think of the coiled hose? I've been thinking about getting one from Costco or Sam's. Thanks.

I own one similar to that and this pressure washer. IMO this is the best washer (I can put soap (so I can blast those sticky dirt) and liquid wax too) there are a few setting on this:

Is there any harm in using a sprayer like this? I don't feel like I have a lot of free time, and the actual washing with soap takes about 2/3 of the time it takes me to wash my car.

Usually, I don't really need to wipe the car with a soapy mitt. I really just need to get some foamy soap on it to pick up the dirt.

Is this sort of thing safe on an NSX's finish?

I own this same washer and it has a gentle watering cycle that is very gentle yet voluminous to wash/soap the car quickly. I really like this unit and I think it is very safe.

I like the coiled hose but I've only used it once so far. It did the trick though - I put it way without having it coil it back up.

I've seen those coil hoses and to me they look like they would be such a pain. 20 years ago, I bought a 100ft rubber Sears Craftsman hose (guaranteed for life, they said they would replace it even if my dog chewed it up). I've left it fully pressurized (i.e. water spiquet on) all summer in the Sacramento heat (sitting in the sun for hours each day), out in the winter when freezing spells hit and the water in it froze solid. This hose still works great, doesn't get kinks in it, no leaks on the connector ends. Not wanting to risk a more expensive hose getting ripped off, this hose stayed in my backyard while I bought other hoses for the front yard (some sold as construction job tough at Home depot). After going through about 3 or 4 hoses (failure to be a good hose in a 2 to 3 years), about 10 years ago, I said to heck with it (OK I used a dirtier 4-letter word) and decided to buy another Craftsman hose (50 ft this time) for the hose reel in my front yard.
I'll never buy another "green" garden hose. Based on my experience so far, I don't think I will ever need to take Sears up on the free replacement as I doubt these hoses will ever fail me(and I hope to be around 30 to 40 years from now).

I'm right with you on the Sears black hose 10 years and still works great.
I use one of those wind up reels mounted to the garage wall.
