MY 02 NSX makes top 10 out of 1000 cars at show and to be on TV. With some PICS now

So I took my 2002 Silver Stone Metallic NSX T and entered it in to the Slamin and Jamin car show in Lebanon, TN. There were over 1000 plus entries in this show! The range of vehicles was from mini trucks to full size dullies slamed to every import you could think of with every mod possible to domestic sports cars with some crazy crap done to them. There was a lot of RICE, there was a lot of junk, but over all there was some awesome, tricked out cars and trucks with some of the best paint jobs I have seen to date.
So the show was on Fri, Sat, Sun. I could not make it on Fri but I went bright and early on Sat and Sun. Even though I got to the show only 1 hour after the gates opened I still had to get a spot out in the sticks. By 1pm they announced that they had over 1000 entries in the car show. For your car to be judged you had to drive to a judging lane, the wait was over 4 hours long. So I dumped the idea of having my car judged.
Once I returned to my spot in the sticks I dusted my car off and sat down with my bottle of water and continued answering the 100 questions an hour about my NSX. Just a bit later A couple of guys came over to me. They said that my NSX was picked for the ULTIMATE 10. The guy told me that on Sunday I should park at the entrance in the designated area for the 10 best in show. Falken Tire company sponsored the show and the guys from Falken Tire chose the top 10.
I was very happy with this considering the vast competition. My NSX was complemented by hundreds of people. Just about every person that walked by my car with a camera took 1 or more PICS.
For those of you that have not seen my NSX before I will post PICS in a few days. I have done a few upgrades that complement the car. In the words of the Falken Tire guys "its a clean car not to much." The 2002 NSX has SSR 18's all the way around with 225-35-18's in front and 285 30 18's in the rear, Tein RA's with the ride height in the front with no fender gap and just a bit of fender gap in the rear, Tatiec Carbon Fiber wing, Tatiec Rear Diffuser painted to match the car, Tatiec GT Light Weight Center Exit Exhaust, Comptech Headers, Carbon Fiber Mirrors, Carbon Fiber side vents, Carbon Fiber intake plate, and a 100 HP shot of NX wet nitrous system with an outstanding install.
Sat was as sunny and beautiful as a day can get. Sunday morning I got up at 5:30 am and detailed the NSX. I got to the show right at 8:15am and took my spot at the front gate. The weather was slightly overcast. At about 9am I got a very nice surprise. A camera crew from TNN was shooting the Slamin and Jamin event.
I asked the crew when the event would be on TV. The producer told me that they are filming for a new TV show called Xtrem Imports. This show is to start in the 4th quarter on what is now TNN. They will be changing from TNN to the Spike Network in the fall. After I got all that info the crew told me that they would be filming the Ultimate 10 in show. I was very happy to hear this.
The camera crew and host's made their way over to the 10 cars. One of the hosts for the show, a fine gentleman by the name of Griff Allen came over and asked why my NSX was in the ultimate 10. I told him of all the upgrades on the car and the plans for the future of my NSX. After a nice conversation they set up and began filming the top 10 with the owners next to their cars. As Griff Allen and the other host were doing the talk show thing in front of the Ultimate 10 Griff asked the other host what was his favorite in show. The host mentioned a bad ass Honda S2000 in silver with a Vortech super charger and Veilside body kit and some 18's, the owner of the S2000 I met a week earlier at a Honda meet and has a shop right down the road from my house (shear coincidence).
The 2nd host then asked Griff Allen what was his best in show pick was, Griff then had the camera point to two vehicles. He said "Its a tie for me, this awesome F250 with a Navigator front end & slammed and then this awesome 2002 NSX with a 100 shot of Nitrous you just cant beat an NSX." Griff Allen told me to keep in touch via e-mail about my NSX for some possible future coverage. Man was I thrilled by the kind words, pro NSX attitude and the video shot.
By about noon time it began to rain, but I could not believe it, no one left and there was still a line to get in the show. I had to stick around till 2pm for the Ultimate 10 trophy. So now I am home, I cleaned up my car and have a nice smile on my face. I just wanted to share the events of this weekend. I will have the PICS in a few days and a link to them.

I have met John (aka AJKS) and seen his NSX several times at a local cruise in here in Nashville, and can attest to the fact that his car really draws a crowd.

I've taken my red 23,400 mile '91 NSX (with Antera 309 wheels and a Taitec GT Lightweight exhaust), my Speed Yellow '02 Boxster S with SSR GT3's, and my '57 Auratium Green Porsche Speedster to these cruise ins and parked near John's car, and for some strange reason, my cars suddenly become invisible.

Everyone loves John's car, so it's no surprise that his car was a top 10 at the Lebanon show.

Congrats!

Mike

Yes, that is my NSX before the Carbon Fiber Mirrior install (the ones from SOS) and the Tein RA's install. The car sits a bit lower now, And the Mirrors realy set it off.
I will get a few pics posted from the show this week. Thanks for posting the NSX airport PICS.

What a terrific story! Congratulations! Every once in a while hard work, planning, and luck all come together simultaneously to produce fantastic results such as the situation you described.

PS - those new style headlights look the best on your car that I have seen. They really go great with the silver IMO.

How does the front emblem look like? Is it the standard '02 "A" or something special? The photo are quity grainy...

It is the standard emblem on the front of my 02. Same emblem as on the rear of the NSX.

WOW thats hot!

AJKS: Firstly, congratulations... not just for making the top ten, but secondly for a beautiful specimen of NSX you own (all the good NSX mods seem to come from ScienceOfSpeed!) The more I see the silver '02, the more I like it.

I have one question though... please tell me you beat the "bling-bling" beast pictured in the photo below?

NSX TOP 10

NeoNSX

Well, I did not stay till the end of the awards. I got my Top 10 Trophy and went to the house. It was raining and cold out. I guess you could call my car an editors choice, but the truck next to me was also mentioned, I mean look at the PICS I must say it is a nice custom truck. I ditched the idea of getting my car judged for best in show on Sat due to the 3 plus hour wait on the judge line, but because I was in the top 10 chosen by the Falken Tire Judges on Sat the show judges were to judge from the 10 a winner for best in show. So there is still a chance I won best in show and maybe in a few other categories but I will not know for a few days when final results are sent in the mail. I was just happy to sit back and show my car to the public and let everyone know that the NSX is still out there and still on the top of the list of super cars. I would say 1 out of every 3 people did not know that the NSX was still in production.
Man I cannot wait till NOPI in Atlanta. .

Congratulations again AJKS ...

I would say 1 out of every 3 people did not know that the NSX was still in production.

 Honda should pay your costs for providing the publicity. ;)

If you'd stuck around, it would have been interesting to see how close to #1 you'd get. In my biased opinion, you would have won clearly... :D The NSX is the "bling exotic"...

What? No widescreen LCD screen or DVD-player? :p hehe...

Yea it had he DVD and LCD and yada yada yada, see below.....kind of played out if you ask me. I had a DVD/GPS/TV flip screen in my first NSX (red 91) back in 2000. I guess I will put one in the 02 only because it is a sponsor (part paid for) item and it is good at car shows. :p

I put a few more PICS up in the photo forum. Well worth looking at!

Way to go John, I'm glad the folks that showed up got to see a true piece if engineering. I will say I have dreamed of the NSX for a couple of years now, and when I saw it in Nashville, right then I knew why I had driven there. I also want to add that your vehicle is special because you know about it and can give insight into all the nice detailos behind all the parts that are on it. I can bet you probably get a lot of stupid questions, I heard a few while in Nashville. Well, congrats to you and your car. I'll look forward to seeing it at Nopi.
