NSX T vs F-Car 308/328 Comparison

I am interested in hearing your thoughts on a comparison between these cars. Are the NSX's really so durable? Has anyone here ever had a 3X8 F-Car that now has and recommends an NSX over a 3X8? I see strengths in both camps. I am a newbie to both camps though so I need your wisdom from experience. Used car prices are comparable between the two marques mentioned. What am I missing?

oh hello from f-chat as well!

Same thing, I have both, the NSX is a faster, better handling more comfortble car to drive that costs less to maintain.

But don't put done the old 3x8s, I am selling my NA2 so I can keep the 328

tough one

i owned a 328gts for 8 years then sold it and bought a 92 nsx and my brother and I raced them around tiwsty roads and open highway. The result was that it was a tie, in lower the nsx was a little faster but if the race started around 70 mph then it was the same. If the race was in a place with a lot of turns then it is up to the driver skills to come ahead of the other. If you want a ferrari then go for it but if you want comfort and ergonomics then the nsx. The Ferrari will make you feel a lot better and the sound is way beyond the nsx, the 328 is more manly, also very reliable and not to expensive to run. Now I own a testarossa which I drove at least 5 days week for 3 years,I bought with 9,000 miles now its got 31,000, but its so scary because of jealous people that I have decided to drive it less, so now Im looking to buy an nsx for daily driving because it is the only car that I regret now to have sold. I still drive the 328 because my brother bought it from me, im that lucky still

Are you on crack? A ferrari will make you feel better? what kind of stupid statement is that? And the 328 is more reliable than the NSX? Man.. what the hell are you smoking... seriously..???

LOL!

used price of 308/328 isn't really in the same range as the NSX cos you can only get really old F for that. If you are concerned about the reliability(durability?), I can't believe you are making a comparison between 70/80s Italian car and 90s Japanese car...

Unless you love the 308/328 for a good reason, its no 355/360, so just an old F.

And with a lot of Fieros looking like a 3x8, that would be my reason for not getting one of those.

I would say the used prices ARE in the same range: a 308 QV is going to start around $25K for a scruffy example, and 328 from '89 is going to run right around $50k. The NSX-T (for models between '96 and '99 or so) are pretty likely to fall in that same range.

Also, I'd sure rather have a really well sorted out 328 than any 355 (sorry for 355 owners, but up close & personal the 355 has really never impressed) though the 360 is a different story altogether :)

But heck, I'm still slumming in a '97 Z3 hoping to hop into a green NSX coupe, so what do I know? :)

It does for me. And thats not driving around 'flashing' in front of people either. Thats at 3 am when I have the open road to myself. The 'experiance' of the drive is like no other.

Auraraptor... tell you what.. why dont you sell me your 97 for cheap.. cause I don't want you to feel bad driving the NSX. That way, at 3am.. you can think.. wow.. i feel great... and you never have to worry about having a less than "Ferrari" experience. Let me know when I can pick her up...

Couldn't disagree with you more.

I am a true Ferrari "tifosi" as they say. I go to Ferrari track events and have been in lots of F-cars on the track. My home office is a Ferrari shrine. I have the videos and books. I was even looking at an 85 308 QV in March. I love them. However I'll be picking up an NSX here next week if all goes well. Why?

For the styling and reliability and the modern creature comforts that an older F-car cannot deliver. The 308's AC sucks, the interior is dated, and the damn footwell is too narrow. All but the best maintained 3x8's have half-faded paint. An '85 305QV puts out about 250hp compared to 270/290 and from the seat-of-the-pantsometer I'd have to say the NSX is a good bit fiestier(sp?).

It is all about what you want. The Ferrari makes a great sound, but I think the NSX's stock sound is underrated.

I'll take a 355 any day!

Get what you like!

Thanks Mike!

I went to see the 3 NSX's at Suburban Wrench in Pennington, NJ today. Mike owns the place and is a frequenter of this board. He has a red, a silver and a black one. They all looked very nice, and he has them reasonably priced. Mike let me drive the black one. I liked it! :) This was my first NSX experience. I am gonna get one. I have to sell my '87 911 first.

Gladly, but I am trading my NSX for a Range Rover in a few days (hopefully) so I can do exactly that....when the 328 is working that is....

Oh and they are giving me 35k for trade in on my red/blk NA2 (and it only has 35k miles! :( )

Well you win some you lose some.

Dennis, look at a 97+ NSX if the means exist for the price.
Many upgrades for that year and later.
3Xsomething F car may sound great but it ends there in comparison. Of course, F cars still get all the respect so if you
just want to impress.....
Maybe Nina needs a good home??? ;>

Interesting how people's opinion change after driving the NSX. ;)

Why don't you give people here a chance to buy your car at that (or a little better) price before giving it to the dealer cheap?

I did, for a few months. PM me if you want and ill tell you the full story.

Ferrarichat

btw, here's what the guys on ferrari chat are saying-FERRARICHAT

IMHO, comparing a 328 or a 348 is silly. The NSX is a far, far superior vehicle. However, a NSX might not stir your soul the way a F-car does. Its all about what floats your boat.
