The car is immaculate, black/ivory. Seller is asking 25k but i offered him 24k. for 24k the car has 138k miles and he doesnt drive it to often anymore. he has aftermarket 17/18 wheel combo. He works at a custom stereo shop and they did a demo system in the car with dvd, 1000 watt ppi amp custom mounted, 8" JL sub mb quartz mids and highs and disk changer along with a alpine deck. The car is equipped with after market digital guages in custom made pods which looks factory in the car. He had the clutch changed to a RM and the exhaust had be swapped for an RM. He is also including all the stock parts exhaust, stock factory wheels and suspension. He had already lowered it with Eibach suspension. The paint is in prestine condition with no defects. He has new tires on the after market wheels also. Everything works on the car. I had mentioned it to him since he is the 4th owner and me being the possible 5th if the car had been serviced. he is doing a car fax but he doesnt know if it has been serviced. Well i called David McDavid acura in Austin for a timing belt, water pump, all front seals replace, and accessory drive belts with a tune up. The serviceman was kind and quoted me for 1395.41 taxed out the door. is That a good price. The interior is as if its new, he had the seats redyed proffesionally aswell. The freon for the AC is a lil low but i have an uncle who will fill the out dated R12 with more. I asked the owner to make me a video of the car and within two days I had recieved it in the mail along with music in the back ground. Also forgot to mention he has a custom made see through engine cover over the motor making viewers see it without having to open the hatch. As for security its been equipped with a clifford alarm, remote start blah blah blah. The car is mechanically sound and has many extras. Im just wondering with 138K miles what else should i look for. I know all that fancy stuff is nice but if the car breaks down that nice stuff doesnt mean much for reliability. Thats what im looking for.

sorry for a long post

thanks

With no service history on a 138k mile car, I would recommend a compression/leakdown test in addition to normal mechanical inspection. If that comes back OK, it sounds like a good deal if the car lives up to the condition described.

the freon

How did you know the freon was low? Did you check the sight glass near the radiator? If its bubbling, I believe it is 7/10ths low and if its frothing I believe its 3/10ths low based on what I've read in the forums (my memory may be slightly off).

Nonetheless, it stands to reason that since AC systems are effectively closed systems, if the freon is low, there could be a leak somewhere and if you want to rectify that, it could cost you how low it is may provide you some insight into the magnitude of the leak, so refilling it periodically may make more financial sense in those circumstances.

update

I talk to the owner and he will send me the VIN during lunch, also the car had its 90k service done. Compression #'s checked good across the board. He will supply all papers and history on the car.
I have been talking to the owner for a month now and he seems legite to me and is always up for question via email and always on the phone.
