service recommendation

Anyone in the SF Bay Area have a GREAT, TRUSTWORTHY recommendation for a local service guy? I need timing belt, water pump, etc. etc. I've heard of Don at Hilltop Auto Service, and I've done a few minimal things with Stevens Creek Acura. But this is big stuff and I need someone who is knowledgeable, won't damage the car, and most of all, trustworthy. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I think you first comment about Don is correct, I have heard nothing but good things about him. I am not completely familiar with the goegraphy out the, but there is also Pettits Auto. Bruce Pettitt is factory trained and has a top notch reputation also, I just do not know if he is close to you!!

I live in the Palo Alto area so I'm trying to stay between SF and San Jose. Roseville is 2 hours away.

insx: have you had service done at Hilltop? Was it done right the first time. Did Don make sure he looked out for things you might not have come in for? Did he do the work himself? did he treat the car carefully? Any specific feedback would be great. Thanks again.

Mark, do a search on sevice in this area and almost everyone will recommend Don. Want big ticket items? How about short gears and R&P? Timing belt and valves? Headers and exhaust? Engine remove and replace? He'll do it all, and he'll do it on time. And probably cheaper than anyone else in the Bay Area.

I did oil change & exhaust system replacement at his place.

yes he put extra attention on NSX.
Especially if the NSX is as mint & clean as mine on the engine and the bottom of the car. I heard that most mechanics will treat a very clean car with more respect

Don is factory trained too. He is trustworthy and he will treat you like a friend. I have nothing but good things to say about him. He does all the work except routine oil changes on my 2 NSXs, and CRV.

Go to Don. He rocks.

Stay far, far away from any dealer on Stevens Creek Blvd. In my opinion, they're all crooks.

South Bay, I've had good experience with Los Gatos Acura.

Peninsula, people tell me that Hopkins Acura in Redwood City is good, but I've heard a few horror stories from there too. I live in Redwood City, and I either go to Don's or LGA.

Thanks everyone! I have an appointment at Hilltop. From what I was quoted, you sure can't beat Don's prices. And yes Romeo, there's truth to the old adages: "ignorance is bliss!" and "what you don't know won't hurt you!" By the way Romeo, if you ever are in the area again, or even half-way, let me know. I'm still thinking about getting the JGTC and would like to hear yours again.
