With the 97+ cars now accounting for 20-25% of the total NSX's produced so far, it seems that it would be worth the time for vendors of aftermarket engine mods to overcome OBD II and throtle by wire. These systems are six years old.
Are there any other non-NSX cars out there were with these systems were work-arounds have been succesful?
In case you are wondering I am wanting to see this for new superchargers, velocity stacks, etc.

Superchargers? I thought the superchargers (for example, Comptech's) are available for the '97+ years. Same thing for headers and exhaust - although exhaust system mods tend to be less widely available because those systems were optimized better on the stock '97+ and thus there is less to gain from modifying.

So...let me make sure I understand ...as the new and proud owner of a 97, I have installed a K&N and was pondering an exhaust system...are you saying that I'd not get much more performance from that investment as they were optimized in the design of the later years?...I have always appreciated your knowledge (bump!) in the threads I've seen you respond to...thanks...Mike

I should mention that I live in Denver and "thin air" robs some of the performance...

That's my recollection. Unfortunately, with exhausts, there are lots of claims, but not a lot of dyno information.

Gee, thanks!

Yes, I've heard that it robs something like 20-30 percent of the horsepower. I've also heard that this is why superchargers are so common there.

Don't complain about losing performance; as compensation, you have wonderful, exciting driving roads close by!

That's correct.

However, keep in mind that the same is true of all the cars in that area, not just the NSX.

With any proven reliability.

Incorrect.....Gruppe M has proven its reliability also.

Doing it right theoretically entails replacing the 3.2 throttle body with a 3.0 drive by cable throttle body. Additionally, you need a 3.0 gas pedal assembly. Both of these I just bought. Next I need the cable from the pedal to the throttle body. Gerry Johnson is doing the conversion for me, with complete new turbo, intercooler, TEC3 standalone and biggie injectors. Nobody else on earth ever did this yet as far as I have heard, Gerry will be able to begin on my car in the next few upcoming weeks. I will be keeping updates on here as to the progress!
