Today I took my 92 NSX with 41K miles in to a local Acura dealer because I've recently noticed a few drops of oil on my garage floor. They are saying I need 4 new camshaft plugs and 4 new Vtech solenoid seals at a cost of $1635 + tax.

A friend with an NSX says this sounds too expensive? I'll call the other local dealer tomorrow...but, does anyone have experience with this or an idea??

Also, if I have this done should any preventative mantainance be easier to do at the same time? (timing belt?,etc.)
Thanks!!

Humm... Sounds like its way too much! I just had my 90Kms service done and replaced the Cam Plugs, Spool Valve seals, as well as Timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, valve lash adjustment for less than $1900 :) with taxes CND yes that was Canadian with all parts Honda OEM.

I had all work completed by a very good mechanic who has had lots of experiance with the NSX... so I saved lots of $$$

Now if memory serves me correctly, the dealer quoted me $2300 to do the oil leak and 90K service!

this should be an est., but i just had mine cost around the 800 area

it was 4 cam plugs

1 valve cover gasket

and alignment done

Update-
I called the other local Acura dealer and they told me $446.00 for the same repair ($1635 at the other dealer). I called the original dealer told them and they said the other dealer must have quoted me the wrong price...called them back they said no and I received a phone call from the first dealer saying they would match the $446 price though. I feel they were trying to rip me off...who knows? Moral of the story...I guess call around and price compare. Thanks for the help!
