The cars that didnt make the line up for pictures were...

1995 Civic Ex Coupe, Right Hand Drive Conversion w/ B18 motor.

1994 JDM CRX DelSol (RHD) Silver, they were still called a CRX in Japan, and the floor mats & owners manual say it on it.

1997 JDM Prelude Si (RHD) Maroon (Orig Color)

1999 JDM Civic Type-R, All Orig. (For Now) Championship White.

Hmmmm.... Still no blue, Sorry.
I'll have to inport a blue Silvia or something..... LOL

-Ray.

wow you love right hand drivien car alot..
how does it drive like compared to the left hand driven?

LHD and RHD are exactly the same IMHO. I don't see the difference when I'm driving my dad's NSX in Hong Kong and my NSX here. The only pain in the neck to drive around a RHD in the US (or LHD in Asia) are paying tolls and getting tickets in parking lots. Either way, my guess is that all his RHD cars are track cars, so it wouldn't matter.

Ray, it's nice to see a clean R33, thanx for the pics.

I've seen some of those nice cars in person. I am sure they all street legal. I love that MONO lug conversion...:)
I will see you at HIN Ray. Lots of changes to your car since the last time I saw it at Global huh. nice work man.

Interesting points.. I didn't think about that.. yeah.. how do people w/ cars directly imported from Japan deal w/ that?? Do they always carry someone in the passenger seat :D??

RHD is a cool little novelty thing that we do for the kids to oooohh & aaaah over at shows and outing.....personally i dont think i would drive one daily as it would be a hassle.

Drives exactly the same, except for the wiper and turn signal stalks are reversed, so quite often you see me clearing the windshield while changing lanes.....LOL! Also until you get used to it, you often "ride the turtles" in the road, as I naturally drive too much to the left.

The cars are street cars, although rarely driven, the Delsol and Civic coupe are for sale..... The Skyline doesnt get driven much out of fear. You literally have to outrun and ditch people when driving it, last week i was on I-5, and a riced out civic merges on, catches up, and whips out his cell phone, 3 exits down 4 more rice-boys join in, and wouldnt stop following. Definitely not wanting them to know where to come and steal the car, i loop around the town 2 times, and backtrack......still following, so i "clear the throats" on the turbos, and lose them to the tune of 150+. (GRIN)

Atleast in the NSX, all they do is rev, speed off, and then tell everyone they "raced" me...... Ugh, kids these days.

Slowly but surely, working on 6speed+turbo next, got all the parts purchase, just too busy to crank the wrench. Since those 2 items broke me, i cant afford to change up the outside, so i dont think i'll be attending the next HIN. But i'll come by to see yours in person, looks like you've been busy.

I did go thru the drive-thru of a McDonalds backwards..... should of seen how many people were literally rolling on the ground laughing... A riot.

Anywho, its late... and i have work tomorrow, now that i found out that my email account has 100megs of hosting space, i'll post up more nice pics when i snap em. And I'll post up the progress of the turbo, and auto->6speed conversion.

G'night,

WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :D :D :D

Yup, that definitely solved the RHD problem, I've never thought about it. Man, you're so creative!!!! ROFL!!!!

P.S. I suppose you back into parking garages, too? :D

NA1,
those are some of the best improvisions I've ever heard regarding RHD vehicle.
IMO, driving on the right is not that of a hassle as you might think... I would rather have a RHD car than a LHD one (it would put me back to the days living in Japan:). I agree that you (accidently) turn the wipers on when making a turn. But after awhile you do get used to it.

One of the benefits is you're driving beside a nice looking lady you get to roll down your window and speak right next to her instead of across a window. (the RHD does spark a quick conversation).

who's rsx is that??

Co-worker of mine..... Mugen wheels, bodykit, and mugen roll-cage. injen intake, JIC titanium exhaust. Other than that he stopped upgrading it after riding one of my firneds 2003 Yamaha R6, now hes dead set on spending the money on a new bike.

Hehehe.....

trying to talk him into the Toda Cam package w/ the Toda ECU.

Is it illegal to drive a LHD car in the US. If its not heck I would just import a type S when I get my first NSX. I know Macs from Japan has I think two Type-S NSXes. I would love to own one of those beautiful cars.

its not illegal to drive them, as i have seen people drive ex-postal carrier subaru wagons, and sorts of other classic cars that are RHD.

Problem is that the government will block all attempts to bring them in (and all other non-usa-designated vehicles). Unless its an approved vehicle from "the list". you have to get the car bonded, and a RA to make proper modifications.
If you try to bring it in, and its not on the list, they will destroy or ship the car back, and you lose the bond money.

A RHD, or JDM nsx is NOT on the list. Trust me i checked..... But if i ever come across a deal on a NSX-R, you are damned sure that i will "make it happen" no matter what.

What if I were to RA the car would it keep it close to normal?

This may be dumb but if a car has to be in a certain qualification so it can be in the US wouldn't that mean all modified car are not qualified to be in the US.

Like would I have to get it approved and keep it approved or qualified, to keep the car. Or after it is aproved could I just make it the same way it was before and not get it taken away. I don't know if this post would make sense but I'll try it.

Also what about the NSX Type-S makes it unqulaified for the US. Is it that the car has no airbags or is it the safety of the car. I don't know but what the heck I will try in the future.

I dont make the rules man...... Oh, and i meant R.I. (registered importer).

but the RHD chassis have never been crash tested in the USA, so DOT has no crash information on file, so that is "a" reason you cant bring it over, the other reason are the people called EPA. Even though the emissions may pass the sniffer test, it may not be routed or setup according to "EPA" guidelines. Plus JDM cars are not fully OBD2 compliant. Bunch of stuff. I can go on and on...... door beams, front and rear impact bar, winsheild glass, rear tail lamp reflectors, front amber reflectors, blah blah blah.......Now they are really cracking down on people bringing in JDM cars, although those european people keep sneaking in those euro-spec frraris in all the time, and i think the government is a little more lax with those guys.

NA1 is right about RHD issues. The RHD configuration has little to do with being illegal to drive, but it is the safety issues.

FYI,
Motorex is the only one company can legally import the Skyline to the US. Because they have all the technology and proven to DOT, EPA... that they can make the car to US safety spec. They also crash tested the hell out of their pockets to meet the safety standard. Like NA1 stated, front and rear bumper re-inforcement, windshield, door beams...ect. were installed on the crash test cars for the test. For all that, you are paying 16K~40K(depends on what year) for the safety coversion.
As for the NSX type R and S... I can order one from Japan(different source), but for TRACK use only.:(

Re: NSX-R
Why is bringing an NSX-R into the USA any different than the Euro spec Ferrari 360 Modenas? Legalization shouldn't be any different on the Japanese cars than the Italian cars. Both have to undergo the item changes mentioned above. If for no other reason than displaying a "real" NSX-R in a private collection, in case it couldn't pass EPA/DOT regulations.
On the other hand, owning and driving a RHD NSX-R would be cool. It would surely grab some looks from other motorists. Does anyone have the website address for MAC's in Japan? I would like to inquire about this car.
By the way, what is the difference <besides the car's weight> between the US spec NSX-T and the NSX-R? From what I have read the NSX-R is not a super horsepower car like an NSX equipped with a supercharger, turbo or NOS.

Thx ... NSX IMAGE

Too many to list (suspension, sway bars, diffuser, seats, steering wheel, shift knob, etc) but if you're just curious about the horsepower, the NSX-T has 290 and NSX-R has 280.

P.S. Use these brackets ( ) instead of "<" and ">" because nothing will show when you post it.

Besides the great looks, what is the big deal about owning an NSX-R if the hp is 280 and an NSX-T is 290? Is it the power to weight ratio that makes the "R" so desirable?

Thx ... NSX IMAGE

With the 1:1 power to weight ratio, the NSX-R re-emphasized its statement that power is not everything. It is one of the only cars* that can do 0-60 under 5secs (4.4 to be exact) and under 13secs (12.7) 1/4 mile with under 300hp. Since the NSX is not designed for drag racing, its handling can only be more impressive than its acceleration time. Bottom line, all Honda Type-Rs are desirable IMHO.

*Lotus Exige can do 0-60 in 4.7 secs and 1/4 mile @ 13.0 secs

Why is bringing an NSX-R into the USA any different than the Euro spec Ferrari 360 Modenas?

Eurospec ferraris are still LHD platforms, so the floorpan/firewall/front frame rails are all the same so the US conterparts crash data is considered the same.

RHD cars have a different firewall, and different floor pan, different front frame rails, so the US equvilent LHD crash data is considered NOT the same.

As for why i would like the NSX-R (and i meant the original one, not the '03), its is the perfect blend of power/handling/balance. Have you guys watched the Best Motoring" Vol.4, where the test the NSX, NSX-R, Type-S, and Type-Szero. Watch the way the handle compared to each other, there is quite a difference. I'll see about posting a video clip of that part.
