Installing XM Radio in an NSX

I have a few quick questions about XM radio in an NSX. I tried to do a search but "XM" is too short to meet search requirements and other searches did not answer my questions.
So for the guru's:

1. I have an XM antenna that needs to be mounted on metal, will it be ok on the roof or do I need to go buy a glass mount?

2. Has anyone tried mounting an XM antenna in the engine bay under the glass (either metal or glass mount) and if so how does it work?

3. Where is the best place to put the unit (the unit is a Pioneer Fm mod)

4. where is the best place to get power from? Anyone know the colors?

TIA for any and all help!
Aaron

this can be a good info for lots of people. im gonna stop by best later and ask them about it.

Aaron -

I have a friend who keeps the antenna in the car and places it on the dash when driving. He then hides the antenna and takes the receiver in when not in use. Says he never has had a problem with reception.

Let us know the results.

News to me; mine is mounted on a plastic frame enclosing my V1
will it be ok on the roof or do I need to go buy a glass mount?
Don't put it on the roof; it looks like crap and ruins the cars lines. Put it inside the car.

3. Where is the best place to put the unit (the unit is a Pioneer Fm mod)
I have a Delphi in a custom mount in the clock area; works great

Not true. I have one mounted INSIDE the dash board behind the glove box. Works perfectly.

I mounted it in the ashtray. Since I don't smoke, I didn't need it anyway. Beside, it is a lot easier to get to than in the clock location. IMO

I just bought the Delphi boombox unit and fm tuner, I am curious of possible elegant install options (inside and out) on the NSX. Photos of each of yours would be much appreciated. The only place I thought good to install the small magnetic antenna would be in the front part of the dash were they are notoriously known to crack. TIA

I could not find a good spot (v1 remote display is going in the clock area), so I gave up and put it in the CRX. Took about an hour and sounds great (car has jl subs, dynaudio speakers and ppi amps). Oh well, maybe if a smaller display comes out......
