I did a search and it seems that to get a loan for an older nsx is either through cu, peoplefirst, or jjbest? I'm not apart of a credit union, jjbest only approves for 80% of the purchase price, and peoplefirst approved me for a 98 or newer car. The car Im looking at is a 91 from an acura dealer, but honda fianancing won't finance due to the year of the car. Any other ways out there?

Thanks for any advice.

Home Equity loans are a good source ...

I don't understand why PeopleFirst won't do the loan. I was going to go thru them for my 93, but they never replied after I applied. I had to call them and figure out what was going on. I was worried I didn't get approved since I'm young and still establishing credit. Turns out they did approve me but never bothered telling me. Then, they raised the interest rate, wanted everything notorized, yadda yadda yadda. It seemed like a hassle, so I went thru my credit union. I was able to join thru my father. They gave me an awesome rate and my loan officer approved me for the entire amount of the car, but I only needed half. In fact, she said I had great credit.
So, my advice to you is to see if there is any way possible at all to try joining a credit union. Try going thru a family member, cousin, uncle, or even friend!
Good Luck

When I first started looking for my NSX, I looked into Peoplefirst. Peoplefirst didn't car about the car at all. They sent me a blank check, valid between certain dollar amounts, and all I had to do was to write the VIN on the check and the amount.

They gave me approval based on my credit, and that way I could buy any car within the check amount, regardless of age, mileage, or other factors.

The only thing that changed, was the interest rate, depending on who I purchased the car from. The rate was lower if I purchased the vehicle from a dealer. I don't know why.

I would advise your local bank, but their used car loans are usually not very competitive.

This was the exact same experience I had with them. Peoplefirst has been easy as anything. I got my loan online, and it is direct withdrawl. I have never even talked with anyone there, it took as much effort as making this post! Too easy :)

If your credit is less than perfect you can always get a loan through Bay View Bank in Cali

http://www.bayviewbank.com/ The rate is high but it's an alternative for classic and sports cars.

Try Putnam Leasing out of Greenwich, CT. (800) 278-0071. I am doing a business lease with balloon payment at the end, which is at a low residual. (This, of course, impacts on your montly lease amount, however, resale at the end, if I can part with this car (not) will be maximized)
