I am interested in red valve covers for my red NSX. Are most people powdercoating their valve covers/center cover or are they buying them aftermarket already painted? I'm always interested in saving money. Anyone with any info on matching the red or seen any other color on the engine that would complement a red NSX? Also I think my rear valve cover may be leaking. I saw some smoke coming from back there after a drive the other day. Common problem??

Most people with red valve covers have the '97+ NSX which came that way from the factory. :D

By NO means is that normal. Do you have any mods on the car? I assume you have already pulled the cover and checked to make sure the gasket 'appears' alright?

I know its not normal. I was wondering if it is fairly common. I seem to remember reading a lot about leaky valve cover gaskets. I have no mods. I retorqued the covers and it seems to have stopped but I'm going to pull them soon anyway because I want red valve covers.

Smoke

Its coming from behind the rear valve cover. Its a little messy with oil near the rear edge below the seal. Its dang hard to get a good look back there. Maybe if I jack the car and look from underneath. I used a mirror to see and my best guess is a little oil seeped down on to the exhaust manifold and smoked. It hasn't done it since I retorqued the valve cover and as soon as I get red covers I'll check the seal then. I don't think there is anything else that will leak back there but I should get serious and check. Hopefully nothing is cracked:confused: .

It is pretty hard to crack one of those valve covers. A tiny bit of oil on the exhaust system can cause a lot of smoke, no doubt about that.
Best just to get new gaskets when doing the covers. :D
