Nitrous where the spare tire goes

Hello, I have a 91 NSX and wanted to place my nitrous bottle in the front where the spare tire goes in order to preserve the trunk. I believe it will fit, but will I have trouble with the temperature? I did a search and was unable to locate anything.
thanks

If you're concerned about excessive heat in that area, you should know that many nitrous racers use bottle heaters to keep the bottle hot. When you deplete the bottle during a race, the bottle gets cold, which lowers the pressure inside the bottle, which reduces the rate of nitrous available for the racer's engine. Racers counter this by putting blanket heaters on the bottle(s).

In the front area of the NSX, you have the radiator and the AC condensor, both of which will help warm the bottle. Seems like a good location for a bottle, IMO.

I remember seeing a post that a regular bottle won't fit, someone made a custom bracket for two smaller bottles with an aluminum panel for a heat shield.

I have seen a post on here with a picture and that is where they put it. Looked like a good fit, but I am not sure what kit they were using or how it was mounted.

This is exactly what I would like to do! It looks perfect. Except I do not have the hood, maybe in the future.
SNDSOUL, can you please comment on your setup? Was it custom made? Looks great.
thanks

um will the car blow up if you have a front end collision?
This seems like a very good question....strange nobody answered it

This hazard can apply to mounting the bottle anywhere in the car...

Spare location mount -> Front end collision
Trunk mount -> Rear end collision
Interior mount -> Side impact collision

No matter where you mount it, there will always be risk of puncturing the bottle in an accident. The bottle is basically a reservoir of potential expansive energy. If it is in the front or rear, either way if the bottle is punctured the gas will just blow the bonnet or trunk lid off, and probably little else.

Here's a pic of my setup. 10 lb. bottle.

A 10lb bottle fits fine up front and works great off of the radiator heat, just dont over fill the bottle. You will have to make a plate where your spare tire sits to mount the bottle brackets to, but other than that, its cake. Good Luck and enjoy the spray:D

SndSoul: Is that bottle chromed or polished? Can the bottle be bought already shiny? How come you didn't go with a carbon fiber bottle? Or can you?

TIA,

Wow! That looks great. Glad to know it fits.

TIA,

That is a polished NOS bottle. It comes that way, but cost about twice as much as a regular bottle.:( At the time I was doing alot with polished pieces on my car, now I probably would want a CF bottle. Get one and we'll trade;)

I want NOS too

I want to put a NOS in my nsx, is there anyone know how much will it cost??

Nice picture, hi5417! Are you a new NSX owner in Sacramento?

give me 50 HP more

Nsx is really a nice car especilly on cornering. If it can gives 60 HP more, It will be perfect for me. My nsx is 1992. 3.0L with 270 HP, and it is 280 hp with aftermarket exhaust; however, the newer cars ( after 1997 ) are all come with high HP.

I go to winding road very often and almost never got kicked, but on the straight street, cars like Camero, Firebird, can easily kick my ass *_*. I really don't like that feeling.

if i want to increase 60 hp, i got to modify a lot of parts. the fastest way seems i need to put a supercharger on my NSX. But, it cost more than 9000 dollars. so weird, all other car's supercharger only cost 5000, why NSX need 9000 up?? I had a 1997 M3 before, a supercharger for it only cost arround 5000 dollars.

I am start thinking to put a NOS on my nsx. because, when i go to winding road, 280 hp is good enough for me. when i got provoked by camero or firbird, I have more chance to kill them with the NOS.

so how do you think about my ideas??

i had this car for a while.. but I am a new member of the NSX prime. I always want to look for more friend have this car... i found this website yesterday..and i was so happy..^___^

Hi5417, I can not specifically answer your questions, however I do agree regarding putting 60 x-tra horse into the NSX.

Just curious, you have a right hand drive car where did you import the car from and why? I have been looking at the costs of importing older NSXs from Japan and there really was no cost advantage. Not to mention I would have to learn to drive/ shift a right hand drive car.

PS your sister looks as good as the car.

I can help you with NOS, pm me and we can discuss it, you might want to do a search in this (F/I and Nitrous forum that goes back awhile and read my thoughts on it)

uh, yeah, i think BadCarma would be the dude to talk to on nitrous..

hehe. just do "Search" and "Bad Carma" and you'll see what i mean. :D

 Can anyone see in the first 5 seconds viewing the pic tiger posted above what is 'so' wrong with that setup? I am amazed it works!
