First of all, I would like to say a very big

THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!

to everyone who has called or who sent emails to ask me about my well-being and in general has given me a very warm and good feeling about people in general and the NSX-community in particular. For me it really seems that that NSX-owners are just as special as the cars they own.

Especially, I would like to thank Michel & Ilse, Gerard and his family, Peter, Ton & spouse and others who took care of my NSX and then started a search for me, trying to find out to which hospital I had been taken. It was great to see them in the hospital, being rushed there by ambulance without my phone, ID, or money.

It was and is very heartwarming to notice that so many people have taken the time and trouble to ask me how I am and the car of course even though in many cases these people have never seen me, met me or even had ever before heard of me.

As for me, I'm doing OK. I am back home again, but with a broken ninth vertebra in my back (the T9) and a corset around me most of the time. I'll be out for another 3-5 weeks I've been told but after that I should be OK again.
My dear NSX, however, was badly damaged. It will have to be checked by an expert later to see how much the total damage is and then (if possible) I will have to decide whether to have it repaired or not. It really hurts to say this because for the last year and a half the NSX has been part of my daily life and has been on my mind every day. It really was my dream come true.
However, I'm sure to say that even if my current NSX would prove to be beyond repair there will be another one some day.

Great that your are back to posting Maarten! Hope your vertebrae and your NSX recover fully so that you are riding proudly again before year's end.:D

MvM,

We are so glad to see that you are okay!!
I truly hope that everything turns out fine for you.

Our best wishes for a speedy recovery!

MvM, Glad to see that you are back on the board!!! Best wishes and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Sorry to see the NSX is that shape. :(

Maarten -- Glad to hear you're well enough to type. I'm sure NSXPrime will be a source for much comfort as you get well. Honestly, the car doesn't look that bad. We have quite a few take-off factory parts available that I'm sure we could help you with to get the car back on the road.

Cheers!,
-- Chris

Maarten, you have hit upon an important point that we usually

fail to recognize. The NSX prime community is a class act, you included, because simply by holding the NSX in the regard that we do, we show that we value the important things in life. Substance, quality, value and true beauty that is way deeper than the skin.

We do not know the details about your accident but while your beloved NSX has taken a hit, perhaps it was instrumental in keeping you from getting injured even more seriously.

Also, no matter how much we love and admire the NSX, one Maarten is worth a thousand NSXs. Get better soon and Godspeed!:)

Maarten, great to hear from you! Thanks for providing us with the update. I'm glad you didn't suffer any permanent debilitating injuries. Now give your body the time to heal and you'll be back in the saddle in no time. :)

Glad to hear that you are doing well, or better that is. A few years ago I had a bad one as well. I broke my neck, all of my ribs, etc., etc. My doctors said I should have died. They were astounded that I wouldn't spend the rest of my life in a wheel chair.

That really made me reflect on my life and my family. Thank God you're doing better. It's a bummer that your NSX got busted up, just put it into perspective.

Take some time to let yourself recover. Think about the good things in life, and go out and get a new NSX when you feel better.

Best regards,

Doug

Maarten
Your going to make it thats all that counts. Glad to hear your doing better. I had a broken back in high school, I got kicked in the back with a hockey skate.
I was out for 6 weeks but everything worked out fine.
Get lots of rest. Pm me with your adress I will send some videos to you to pass the time.
Take care Brian.

Ps you car doesnt look that bad.

Maarten, Happy to here the good news that you are OK. Get well soon and back in the saddle. I had a simular accident with a back injury I know what you are going through and if this old man can make it I'm sure you will. Prayers are going out for you on the prayer chain. This is a picture of my wreckage(no fixing this one) Heck you can always buy another car so again take care and get well soon.

Wow! That's good news!!!

Wow! MvM, this is terrific to get news directly from you and here in the Prime!

Take care of yourself, let time do its work, stay positive, let people who love you take care of you and most important keep visualising yourself quickly and completely recovering AND enjoying driving again a superb NSX!

Give us an address to let us send you things.

Sincerly,

effer and family

P.S. on the positive and funny side, your car still look better than a brand new Pontiac Aztek! :D

Maarten, glad to read that your situation got a little better!

I can relate to you since as you may know I destroyed my old red NSX when it was only one year old (for me :) ) back in 2000... many people from the Forum and mailing list wrote me a lot of emails (and also two real letters) even tough I was not injured. They were just happy that I wasn't phisically hurt and they understood the pain for having lost my dream car.

The NSX can be replaced, faster than what you may think... it took me less than two months! :D

Have a full speedy recovery!

Really glad you're alright MvM... NSX's come and go, but there's only one of you.

If your NSX is totalled, I'm sure we can all do a paypal thing and start a fund towards a new nsx for ya.... err... a 1/18th scale of course. :p

Rest and heal quickly.

Cars can be replaced...Life and limbs can't....Good to hear you are doing OK...Get well soon and then replace what can be replaced...

Take care....
