Postive experience with Chris@ScienceofSpeed

Fellow Xers.. just thought i'd pass along a story of a positive experience with Chris@SoS...

A few months back I had ordered some 'go fast' parts from SoS... Taitec H&E, CT 4.55, Short gears, clutch... etc....... I had asked to have the parts drop shipped to Don over at hilltop since it would be easier to just drop the car off and not have to haul parts all over the place..

1st nice experience.. Chris called me the next day and told me that I should go and order the CT R&P from CT directly, since they had the new race program and could save a few hundred bux.. this after he *already* had my credit card #, and order in hand.. what amazing customer service!

Anyhow.. everything arrived (on time), got the call from Don that he was ready for my car... Had it dropped off....

Two days later Don called me and mentioned that the new flywheel didnt seem to be 100%.. I called him back to get a report.. seems he was installing the refurb flywheel.. when i asked why he put that one in - when i had ordered the lightweight brand new one - he mentioned he never got it.

Called Chris - he overnighted a replacement flywheel to Don - no questions asked - and said we would figure out what happened later (did UPS loose it.. did Don loose it. what happened?).

Anyway, turns out that somehow the flywheel missed the shipment.... what really floored me was that when i picked up the car, Don had said that Chris called him and offered to pick up all the extra labor he incurred for having to re-install the new flywheel! brownie point #2 in my book....

Anyway.. that's my experience.. thought i would pass it along.... it's not that often you find online vendors who are willing to go out of their way in these types of situations!

I couldn't agree more.

Chris and Seth know how to run an online business that caters to a very select group of people. I am very happy with the service and product that I purchased from Science of Speed.

Oh.. and a quick review on the new setup..

first - all i can say... is when i got in the car and drove it the first time.. it felt like a completely different car!

with the short gears and CT R&P, hte car really winds through the gears... 1st has a bit more pep.. not a huge difference.. 2nd is *very fast*, 3rd has replaced 2nd as the 'boy racer hitting the fwy onramp' gear (tops around 90), 4th has replaced 3rd as the fwy passing gear....

the new 3rd pulls harder than the 'old' 2nd.. the 'new' 4th pulls harder than the 'old' 3rd... this is for sure.

Cuising in 5th on the fwy.. (rough) estimate:
70mph is now around 3200RPM - i remember it being around 2800 RPM with the old setup.

3rd tops out at around 90mph
4th tops ar around 120-122mph
haven't toped out 5th yet... but my guess is that - if i could get to the full 8kRPM, i should be able to hit just over 160.. as 80MPH is now just shy of 3900 RPM in 5th.

The throttle responce is *amazing* in all gears... the car routinely gets sideways coming out of corners in 2nd gear if i just eek on the throttle too hard! (insert big grin here). and this is with 285/30/18s in the back!

one interesting tidbit is that.. in 5th gear on the fwy.. both of the gagues.. the RPM and the Speedo, seem to increase at the same speed.. pointing the same direction.. it's sort of eery.. you step on the gas in 5th.. at 90 or so... and both of the gagues look like they are linked together.. they just rise - at the same pace.. same angle..... (i know..i notice these things... just thought it was intersesting)

cheers!

I'll chime in here as well.......

Both Chris and Seth have been outstanding in every way in the dealings I've had with them in the past year, and thus they have gotten a lot of my money. They have definitely raised the bar in the NSX community as far as customer service and support goes. I have yet to have an e-mail or a phone call to them go unanswered, which (unfortunately) doesn't seem to be the case with some other vendors. I'm not the easiest customer, and I'm not a very patient one either. Chris and Seth have been most accomodating.

Kudos to Science of Speed!

I second that. I've in fact bought several used things from Chris/Seth and my experiences have been great! Definately a vendor I would not hesitate doing business with. Products are always EXACTLY as described and the prices are great!
Good job guys!
Z

Also, they are really great about answering questions via email. They are on top of their game!

I was interestd to read this post as I have been bemoaning my last online experience with Dali Racing, I still have not recieved all my product. I look forward to opening my purse strings to Chris and Seth at SOS, and if the experience is as rewarding as others have described I will be sure to spread the word to fellow Xers I know. I appreciate good service and promote good service as well.

Thank you for your feed back Spdntckt. Good luck with your modifications.
