Valentine One Problem?

This morning, I didn't hear the normal sequence of beeps my car emits when turning on the ignition. I noticed that my V1 was abnormally silent.

When the Valentine1 runs its self-test, it stops and displays an "E" on the display area... normally reserved for the "A" "l" and "L". One of the signal strength LED comes on... and that's it. Nothing works until you press the volume knob (aka Mute) and then it finishes up its "boot up." After that, it SEEMS to work fine.

Anyone have a clue of whats going on? I'll be calling V1 tomorrow for troubleshooting... and possibly ordering a new V1 just to make sure I have a good working model for the trip up to NSXPO.

BTW, this model is fairly new. I bought it right before the new "thin" model came out. My previous one was rock solid, and the quality and construction was MUCH better than this model.

Thanks in advance!

Mine's been doing the same thing. I called V1 about it, and apparently it can get stuck in this mode. Pushing the button brings it up normally.

Problem is, you gotta send it back to be fixed. I don't want to be without my V1 for any length of time, so I'll send it back the day before my next vacation (whenever that is).

Thanks for your input flamingo. They said the same thing to me.

It seems like it is more sensitive... it goes off more than it should... which backs up what they said. They said some chip that stores the memory for frequency scanning, etc blew... and so the V1 will routinely scan all frequencies... even ones it shouldn't.

I ordered a new V1 off their website after I got off the phone. I'll send this one in for repair or just sell it as is on eBay when I get this one in.

I don't want to risk not having a V1 for the trip to NSXPO.
