Our own DAL motorsports (Vaughn Duarte, Brian Bailey, and Eric Robbins out of Dallas) picked up 7th place in class in their first Grand Am Race, beating Terry Borcheller!!

NSX Prime Interview here:

This was their first pro outing with a new NSX race car, sharing the track with the likes of Randy Pobst, Pete Halsomer, Darren Law, Mark Plummer, Michael Galati, Andy Lally and Bill Auberlen.

Way to go guys!!!

See results here:

This race will be aired on Speed channel on the 11th!

That's awesome guys! Congratulations!

Here's to even better results and a brighter future!

.....beating Terry Borcheller!!

Huh? TB is in an entirely different class; therefore, was not running laps concurrently with the DAL team. I didn't see a black NSX on Speedvision yesterday.

More impressive is that they were twelfth on grid, picking up five positions on their very first race!

This race will be aired on Speed channel on the 11th!

As it was yesterday.

Checking the Grand Am website - Forest Barber and Terry Borcheller did indeed place 11th in GSII in a Bell Motorsports M3. Looking down the list reveals a number of other very recognizable names as well. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!! Apparently many of the Rolex guys race in the Grand Am series as well. I guess I'm buying beer in a couple of weeks at TWS. :D

Look at the race results, smarty pants! Borcheller IS IN THE SAME CLASS as the DAL team - GSII.

Oopsie - I was thinking of the guy driving the prototype Chevrolet that was duking it out with Bill Auberlin and Didier Theys. Anyone recall that driver's name?

Ahah !!

Terry Borcheller was running in two different classes.

I also watched the coverage yesterday, live from VIR, and did not see our comrades anywhere... what gives?

The race you saw live on Sunday was the Rolex series. The Grand-Am cup race was the day before. That one will be aired on the 11th.

Congratulations to DAL for an excellent first effort with a top 10 finish... and the car was ready to run another race when they were done! It was amazing how little they had to do to the car after practice, qualifying, and the race...

DAL is racing in the Grand-Am Cup series. SpeedTV showed the Rolex Sports Car race from VIR yesterday, not the Grand-Am Cup race. These are two different series organized under the Grand-Am name.

The Grand-Am Cup race which took place on October 4, which DAL is in, will air October 11 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM eastern time. NSXTC covered this in his first message but it obviously bears repeating since there is confusion... Again the broadcast schedule is here http://www.grandamerican.com/broadcast_schedule.html

P.S. It's not uncommon at this level for top drivers to race more than one class at the same event. Peter Cunningham did it many times in the Touring (Integra) and GT (NSX) classes of the Speedvision World Challenge series.

Thanks Mark, Andy, Lud and everyone else.

Our improving performance in the practice sessions, qualifying and the race is a testament to our drivers, Brian Bailey and Vaughn Duarte.

Getting the car in their hands in a condition to do so well was a team effort from a lot of people, including the team at Goodson Acura and our financial sponsors, EXP4 Additives and Cobalt Friction Technologies.

We are pleased with our finishing position and how the event went, and hope that we can continue the momentum through the Daytona finale at the end of the month.

It is important to note that the Bell Motorsports M3 campaigned by Forest Barber and Terry Borcheller ran out of gas during the race and had to be refueled on the track. While we would love to say we beat the series points leader on driving ability alone, it was our fuel strategy AND fueling team that put us ahead of a world-class organization like theirs. That, and a bit of good fortune.

As always, members of the NSX community, especially those who frequent NSXPrime.com are welcome to stop by and spend some time with us in the paddock area, and we hope to see some at Daytona as we did at VIR!

Congratulations on a wonderful beginning. It's great to see the NSX in a race series again.

I do think the paint job is a little unfortunate (front resembles an 80's vette when it's on the track), but it's definitely the right main color :)

Daytona

How did it go for DAL in the season's last race?

Hey Guys,

Congrats on a great effort. I know this takes a very "unrealistic" commitment, and still have the rest of your life:) Kudo's

Not as good as at VIR. :-(

NOTE: This contains spoilers for people who are planning on watching the race broadcast on TV tomorrow afternoon.

We faced a lot more adversity at Daytona, most notably being gridded last at the start due to some paperwork issues (we should have qualified 16th or so based on our time).

Also, Daytona is not a track which is favorable to the NSX - too much time on the oval where the higher HP cars eat our lunch. We also had a hard time getting the car set up optimally for the track. Not excuses, just information that explains more of our challenges at that race. This is all part of racing.

Even so, we were able to move from last to 16th in class (24th overall), which was what should have been our starting position. This happened in the first hour of the race. The second hour of the race was spent gaining back that position which was lost during a pit where we just missed getting back out before the pace car. Then, with about 1:15 left in the race, our engine quit. We're not yet sure what it was, although we have an idea. We had to retire the car after 41 of what should have been 72-74 laps.

This will give us the opportunity to do the engine work that is permitted in the rulebook which we haven't taken the time to do yet. We are expecting to have an engine with 15-20 more legal HP than what we ran at VIR and Daytona, which will put us in a good position to run at the front of the overall field next year under the new class structure. I honestly believe that the car, drivers and team have the potential a podium finish next year, and winning is our goal from this point forward.

Thanks again to the NSX community for all their support and well wishes. We're working hard to make you all proud!

Eric - I remember you talking about "going racing" when we were in the lobby of the hotel across the street from TMS, last year. I thought to myself, "Man, he is thinking a tall dream."

Am I ever wrong!!!!!! I would love to do what you guys are doing (I so wanted to crew for your at Daytona with CC, but other things needed attention) but you and Brian and Vaughn are head-n-shoulders above the crowd in terms of commitment and dedication. Godspeed and best wishes!

It would have been good to see you at Daytona. Night racing was cool. The team was extremely organized, and well prepared for such a new team in professional racing. They have addressed numerous details that usually take years to learn. -DAL is one of those teams that will earn them self a name and become an icon in road racing.

Grand Am is about to undergo an enormous transformation over the next two years, look for it to turn into the “NASCAR of Road Racing”

Also congratulations to DAL for running 2:11’s at VIR full course in a near stock NSX… That is smoking! To put it in perspective DAL would have qualified in the top 15 in last years World Challenge against 650 HP factory teams.
