VIN# Location?

Where else can I find the VIN# location other than the obvious dash and door?

reason I ask is that I'm considering purchase of a 93 nsx w/ about 60K. upon inspection, the VIN on the dash and the usual door were missing. seller claims that the car was originally leased, however the leasee didn't make payments and took off the VIN's to avoid repo. it was still repo'd in 96 and here we are. the VIN's are still missing, however there is a DMV assigned VIN, same as original VIN i'm told.

Legally, do the VIN's have to be there?
Should I call DMV, Acura, State Police?

I would avoid this car, like I would avoid flooded streets!! Turn around and don't look back. That's my 2 cents.

I would run a carfax, but I would wager that (regardless of what the carfax said) this was a stolen vehicle (likely), or a chop shop rebuild. Either way, unless you are getting the car for next to nothing and planning on keeping it forever, it will be hell trying to sell it to someone else down the road. These types of things always have a "reasonable story" behind them! I have nver tried, but getting the vin off the dash would seem to be a job without removing the dash, unless I am mistaken. Also, why bother removing it from the door jamb if he keeps the doors locked? A repo man will not B&E a car that he does not know is the car. As for your question, yes the vin is all over the car. Even if they all matched I would still be wary. That's my $.03 (I am not as cheap as NSXFoYoAss!:D )

There is a vin on the rear bulkhead in the engine compartment. I think it is illegal to have a car with the vin missing or altered. Be very careful with this car, stolen is the first thing that comes to my mind also. Private me an e-mail address and I will send you a picture of mine. I would post it here but the file is too big.
