Volk TE 37 question

I am thinking of ordering the TE37s in the OEM size for my 94 (16x7 & 17x8.5). Unsprung weight reduction is the reason. The current offset on the original wheels is 55mm front and 60mm rear. I see that the offset on the TE37 is not the same as the OEM wheels even in the same size or am I wrong? Is it possible to get the same offset in the Volks and if not how will it affect the handling?

I know that Dali sells the Volks but are there any others selling these wheels (Dali is out for 2 weeks for the nsxpo)?

Any info will be greatly appreciated and TIA:)

I can't remember if the NSX is 5x100 or 5x114.3, either way the closest offset that I could find is 46mm in the front and 50mm in the rear. PM me if you are interested in more details on pricing ect. I get great deals on Volks!

There's some serious Hard Sell, nick... :D

For shiftright2, I would choose the set that can get the wheels a little far out,

Pros:
1. More traction. That's always better with your rubber (tires) streching more outwards. ( of course only out till it flush with the fender lip.)
2. Ability to acomodate (clear) a larger caliper and rotors...

Cons:
1. kick up more dirt and water to your body side
2. since the wheels is pushed outwards, your car would look a little lifted. (but if you chose to lower your car, it would look 10 times better.)
3. More Stress (but minimal) on the hub/ bolting nuts...
4. more traction and steering feels means darty / nervous feeling on rough paved Highways.

You probably already noticed that I'm leaning towards the Pros of the farther out rims. 96-EJ6's offer is pretty good on paper... 10mm would probably not doing a lot, but I'm sure it won't get you in any problem.

Volk recommeds 42mm front and 40mm rear offset.

Would that not be too different from the original of 55 and 60mm respectively? I would like to keep the handling as close to original as possible and wish to purchase the Volks simply for the great weight savings. Thanks fangtl.

96-Ej6, you have pm

and thanks NSX-dreamer

If weight savings is the game, get the 15/16 combo, you'll save an additional lb per wheel and ~3 lbs per tire.

I guessed the 15/16 really have a very good behavior, acceleration wise..... but it might not be the best interest for track... ( nsxtasy I'm not talking about the handling) in terms of speed and traction.

If keeping in stock spec is your game then get some Zanardi rims. they are supposed to be several lbs lighter.

A set of Zanardis weigh a total of 8.8 lbs. less than stock 7 spokes.

According to the FAQ, the 7-spokes weigh: 16.75 lb. front and 20.86 lb. rear.

shiftright2--you have a PM

kenjiMR, do you have any other close up

pictures of those wheels? Looks like this size does not seem overly protruding from the wheel wells. Looking from top down at the tires, are they inside the wells or flush or protruding and do you get any rub at all?

Thanks.

96-Ej6, got the message, I will wait for the info. Thanks.

Re: kenjiMR, do you have any other close up

They are not flush to the wheel well, probably have about 5-10mm of more room. I have no rubbing issues at all. The car is lowered by 1.75" or so with TEIN-RAs.
