Dunno if anybody is interested, but yeah i test drove the new TL today when i was at the dealership today having some warranty work done. first off let me just say (personally) i was impressed.

the car is unlike any other acura/honda (meaning it has) little to none road noise. performance was pretty good from the 270 hp engine. i floored the car and the motor had a nice growl/tone? to it and it picked up nice.
what probably impressed me the most was when i shut the doors it had a very nice heavy sound to it, very similar to german cars. honda finally got with the program and finally put one touch power moon roof.
in person i thought the car looked very aggressive and has a very "euro" look to it. interior was very nice and didn't have that cheap feeling.
hehe oh yeah and let me say that the digital 5.1 surround sound was awesome. :D

yeah sorry for the long post but had to share:)

if i didn't buy my nsx i would definitely of bought the new tl. i think i really like it yeah i guess i'll wait and see if a type s comes out though

we just bought an '03 TL-s about 6 weeks ago. coincidentally, while at the dealership, i liked the NSX they had and bought it too. :D

we both wanted the '04 Tl primarily for the 6-sp tranny, but we walked out with a below invoice price on the '03, and talking to the sales guy, he said a couple days ago the best price he would have given us was about 4000 more for the '04.. a nice car, but not worth it just for the tranny, which was the only thing holding us back...

i've heard rumors that instead of a "type S" Badge all acuras will be called Spec A.like tl spec A. i dunno supposedly:confused: . but yeah my salesman heard the same at the road test and drive. dunno though just kinda hoping
and yeah peiserg congrats on your purchases:D especially the NSX.

Really??? Are they that close to each other.
I never considered any other car when looking for my NSX. My daily driver is another story.

im just curious what you paid for the TL Type-S .....ive been hearing some pretty low prices with the intro of the 04.I paid 28.5k for my 02 tls with out navi and i thought that was a pretty good deal.

review

I just read a quick review of the TL in a major publication and they had great things to say about it. Especially the DVD based audio system, it is awesome. I wonder if the wife would let me trade in the 'X' for one?

well im just saying that if i didn't happen to buy the nsx i would of traded in my accord for the new tl preferably the 6 speed. just saying though. would never consider TL next to purchasing NSX:D

I understand.:) From all the good talk about it, I might have to look more seriously at it.

we got the TL/s for $10 below invoice, which i think ended up as $28.3k or something in that neighborhood. then we added a few things.

There is speculation on an A-Spec model which I can seem to confirm. (Acura NsX Pilot, do you have any concrete info on it?) This may be a picture of it. It's got what might be a different OEM kit and chromed versions the 18" wheels.

i believe you should've gotten more than $10 below invoice for the previous model....at least $1k below for the type-S. if that price includes a navigation system, then your deal was awesome.....

I think someone was sayin that the A-Spec will be the 6speed manual package but on a automatic with ground affects ...ohh you also get a A-spec badge on the trunk. I have not seen anything concrete as far as what it is exactly but this is what i got from reading.

At the Las Vegas SEMA show, Honda announced plans for A-spec models. The new '04 TL will be the first Acura available with this package.

"The vehicles we have on display at SEMA not only confirm Honda's and Acura's present commitment to the performance aftermarket, they also give a good indication of how important we expect this market to be to us in the future," said Jim Roach, American Honda vice president of the Parts Division.

The TL A-SPEC kit enhances handling and styling with a track-tuned suspension package that lowers the car by approximately one inch, 18x8.5 wheels equipped with Yokohama tires, performance brake pads (for automatic transmission-equipped models), an underbody kit, a deck lid (or rear wing) spoiler and Acura A-SPEC badging.

And to think, you can all these so called "performance" parts for as little as $5000 not including installation.

I dunno. If you ask me, with those wheels, the new TL looks like a Saturn Ion.

Randy,
The new TL was on display at the Palos Verdes event on a rotating platform and looked more like a 5/7 series beamer than an Ion. It had a very european look to it. I was very impressed and so was everyone looking at it. The pics look like crap IMO. See it in person.

Oh, I don't disagree with you on the fact that the new TL looks good, and even better in person. I was just noting that those A-Spec wheels make the car look pretty stubby in the picture.

actually the a spec wheels were originally on a concept rsx. i can't find the pictures but thats the first time i saw those rims. yeah i have to agree that pictures do the new TL injustice:D it looks a lot better in person. i think i might buy one...

I think the new TL is an incredible car and an incredible value. It is far more fully equipped than its competitors. Price the competition and add features like HID lights, power sunroof, leather, etc that are standard on the TL, and you will find that you are spending thousands and thousands of dollars less than other, similar cars - and you are getting a terrific car, one that has as much power as the original NSX.

The reason there is no Type S is that all TL cars now come with the powerful (270 hp) motor. For the previous generation, that designation was used primarily to distinguish between models containing the more powerful and less powerful engines.

The A-Spec is a dealer-installed package of upgrades to the suspension, bodywork, wheels, etc. The problem with it IMO is that it's fairly expensive; the reason it's expensive is that you are buying replacements that duplicate equipment that comes on the car. They could have just as easily offered a special A-Spec model with that equipment on it from the factory, which would eliminate the duplication and lower the price. Oh well.

Congrats to those of you who are enjoying a new TL (of either generation). Good choice.

I think the same.

As for example, what would you buy between a TL and a 300M?

It's been a long time Acura Honda didn't impress me.

I think they are on the good way.

Look also at the TSX, not bad either considering car value...

I have 4000 miles on my TL/6MT/Nav and am very happy so far.

An incredible value in a sports sedan. A technological tour de force. Etc.

Blizzak LM22s on a FWD Acura in the snow are a welcome change from a RWD Bimmer.

I can't wait to see how it handles with the 18s and summer rubber.

I just test drove the 6mt TL friday and i have to say i was really impressed. I couldn't floor it all the way because it was raining here in the god forsaken place (WA) lol jk. but the car picked up very well and I love the traction control system that the TL has(VSA?).
