ALB problems....

Hello NSXprime´s

I´m a new member from Sweden who has bought a
black NSX just a few weeks ago. It´s a black/black 1991.

First of all I wan´t to say: "Hello!" to everybody. My name is
Johan and I work with a company called BilDesign in Sweden.
We sell alot of styling and tuning to japanse sportscars.
Yes, I like my work :D

I have a problem with my ALB-system. I was cruising with the
car yesterday and it was a little bit wet outside. I had to panic-
brake and the ALB-system did what I shall be doing, with other
words: working. I stopped the car at the gasstation. When I
started it again the brake-pedal was "shaking" constantly.
After a couple of minutes it stopped and the warninglight for
the ANTI-BRAKE turned "on". I have no ABS at all when the
warninglight starts lightning.

The biggest problem is that everytime I start the car it makes
a loud sound from the ALB-system (in the front of the car) and
the pedal is shaking for a couple of minutes. I have tried to
panic-brake 5-6 times but the problem is still there....

Please, anyone who knows what the problem can be?

Thanks!

I had the same problem after a panic stop to aviod an accident.
An NSX Master Tech sugggested something that worked.
Find a puddle of water, or loose sand--start the car--when the ALB pump starts-up (that's the noise you hear on start up for 90 seconds) drive into the water puddle and panic stop--it may take two or three tries. I have done this twice in three years when the system will not reset--I'm told it is likely due to dirt in the ALB valves.

Good Luck

DanO,

I just used your directions to flush my ABS. Thanks so much for that helpful bit of info. I used the alternate method of electrically opening the solenoids as I still have one question. Where does one find a bleeder T wrench? Normal auto parts stores just look at me funny so I assumed its a Honda/Acura specific tool, but the Honda dealership here says they can't order tools.

wildbill,

That is ridiculous. They do take a few weeks to get, but all special tools are available.

The part number for the "T" bleeder is 07HAA-SG00100 OR 07HAA-SGOO101, the later may be a newer version.

These folks all offer NSXCA Discounts

All these folks can get it for you. Discounts on tool may be less then parts. I recall this tool being in the $100 range.
