docjohn said:Look for any pics of the bee at the track I use them.Steve I agree the central hub piece is big,but I'm sure there is some place that can custom make a flater disk to fit.The bmw guys I've seen have done this.
docjohn said:Thank-you Bob for posting those(I'm a picture posting putz). If you look closely I'm not using the center cap,and the hub bolt is therefore exposed. If you go to tire rack's site they have picks of this wheel also.If you do use these at track events don't use the center caps because they are only pressed fit on with a rubber O ring as a seal and under the braking heat of track driving the trapped air in the hub cap becomes so hot it will literaly pop the cap off ! btw I use a 17/17 combo.

17X7.5 Front and 18X9.5 rear. Tire sizes I plan on using are 215/40/17 Front and 255 or 265/35/18 in the rear. I was assured by Tire Rack that I should have no fitment problems on an otherwise stock 1993 NSX.
I inquired about the Brembo Gran Turismo packages as well but they said the Competitions will not clear them but the SSR GT1 wheels will. But at $5000 for front and rear Brembos considering how good the factory brakes are, I'd rather spend the money putting a turbo on the Hayabusa.
2slow2speed said:Yep, I just found out the *hard* way that they won't clear the Stoptech's either . Argh..
17 x 7.5 with 42mm offset, I should have known given that the TE-37's in 17x7.5 don't clear the caliper with a 40mm offset. I was hoping that the difference in the shape of the spokes would make a difference.. I was wrong.
I called them 2 times to verify that they would clear the calipers, and they stated that they would, but this morning I tried the template and nope, it won't clear the kit. Time to send this stuff back... I recall someone suggesting a FAQ for wheel fitting for BBK's being proposed earlier on, I think that it's time.

Hi Ken,2slow2speed said:I purchased the wheels so that I would not have to run spacers on my dedicated track setup.

The Volk GTP 6 spokes 17x8 et 41mm will clear Stoptech without a spacer. I believe Supergreen used that set-up in his car. Another possibility is the SSR GT1 17x8 et 38mm. BTW, if Tirerack gave you the wrong info, they should take care of that.

Ken, I'd be concerned that the lugs were not simply loosening but that the studs were stretching. That would be a permanent problem not remedied by simply re-torquing & ultimately prone to snapping off.2slow2speed said:I ran a track event on Sunday down in Buttonwillow to test my front setup with some 5mm spacers and some longer studs, and I all I can say is that I was not happy with the results. My front lug nuts required retorquing after almost every single run at the track, and the front wheels shuddered under cornering at high (95mph+) speeds.
docjohn said:I guess I'm enjoying a side benefit of the CT 12.4 brembo setup, more wheel choices.FWIW SOS sells some wheels that clear the AP 13 in brakes, talk to Chris about the Stoptechs.
Huh? But you posted pictures and texts that there were no spacers and they cleared the Stoptech. That's where I got the info from. Why are there spacers now?supergreen125 said:fyi-
i had to use a .062 spacer to clear the stoptech brakes with my 17x8 gtp +41
2slow2speed said:I've had some SSR Integrals in the past, and I really did not like the wheels because they bent easily.
I really like the TE-37's because they can take a beating at the track without bending. Close to 40 track events on my current set of wheels and multiple sets of tires, and the wheels remain true. But the experience this weekend is making me think twice about running with spacers on the TE37's for the track.
So now I'm looking for a comparable lightweight wheel that has sufficient caliper clearance and does not have any bending issues and does not cost $2400.00 for the set.

Not much cheaper, but a multitude of possibilities are the BBS magnesium center wheels. You can buy used centers and rim halves from Bob Woodman Tires, and create whatever offset you like, and whatever width you need. Used 17's will probably run around $400 a wheel or more, but will weigh less than anything similar.
