I just got the 4100K 9006 low beam kit from http://www.hid-online.com and am going to install it this weekend.

I might take a different approach than the one outlined in the FAQ. Primarily drilling a hole in the stock plastic cover and routing the wiring through a grommet. It just seems easier to me than all that routing, grommet removal, saliva procedure that's currently described. I have a digital camera so I'll probably photograph each step and maybe even post the install to the FAQ as an alternate way of doing things. The original FAQ is almost 3 years old now and there are differences in the kits since it was posted.

Stay tuned boys and girls!

how's the install on that kit going? i'm interested in getting one but am curious on install problems and more importantly performance...let us know!

The kit is in. No install problems whatsoever. Well almost.....The OEM plug inside the headlight housing that plugs directly to the bulb has a red and black wire. The kit has a male plug that goes into the OEM plug to send a voltage signal to the relay. The kit is properly wired so the red wire from the NSX goes to the relay.

I installed the kit, switched on the headlights and nada! After 5 minutes of trouble shooting I found out why. My OEM plugs had the wires reversed. Weird huh? Red was ground and black was 12v.

My install is very similar to the one posted on the FAQ except I drilled a 5/8" hole in the top slanted part of the bulb cover for the grommet that hid-online supplies. I had to punch through a third hole in the rubber grommet for the wire coming from the harness adapter that powers the relay. I think this is the way SoS does it too but the hid-online kit is much cheaper and it's very high quality.

The 4100k light is fabulous and makes the Silverstars in the high beams look yellow. So much for a color match. I might throw in a set of PIAA Xtreme Whites in the high beams to see if they are whiter than the Silverstars and match the HID color better.

I'll post some pics that I took later tonight or tomorrow.

cool!!

is there a reason you went for the 4100s instead of the 6000s? i know there's a price difference but anything else? thanks for the input..

What brand of bulbs and ballast do you have? I have 4100K philips components from autolampsonline. Great light output, and they integrate well with my stock high beams.

I just installed the SoS kit today. And yeah, the OEM wiring is reverse of what one would expect. In my case it was white for ground, black for 12V. This is mentioned in the SoS instructions and in some of the other posts, so I guess that's just the way it is.

You should check out hid-online for a kit for that Blackbird of yours. They sell motorcycle kits that have smaller ballasts. I have one in my Busa and the light output is amazing. I still use a standard Halogen in the high beam hooked up to a modulator.

Thanks for the tip! I was just wondering about HID kits for motorcycles, after seeing the results on my NSX.
