Question about non OEM CD changer

My 93 has an Alpine CHM-S611 mounted in the swing down factory mount. I know you're supposed to use the Precision Interface Electronics adapter for proper signal phasing. I'm not sure if the car has it installed but the for what it's worth the bass seems ok and imaging is good too.

I didn't feel like taking apart the mount and removing the carpet in the trunk to verify if I have it or not but perhaps you guys can tell me.

The female ended DIN cable coming out from under the carpeting is a sky blue color, is this the factory DIN cable or is it the adapter cable? Or God forbid, are they both the same color? :)

Thanks,
Hugh

By the way I have 2 OEM cartridges from way back when I owned my first NSX in 1993 that work with the Alpine 5960, are these worth something to anyone out there?

If I remember correctly, the DIN cable is more of a greyish blue. Not sky blue. That must be the adaptor. On the other hand, you don't always need the adpator. Some of us (Including me on other Honda/Acura cars) simply modified the DIN by swapping the #2 and #4 pin wires to get the changer back in phase with Honda/Acura decks.

Well, whatever I have it's definitely not the factory connection as I found out today installing the Smartenna.

The factory Din plug in the upper left hand of the trunk is connected to that blue cable that's snaked all the way around the back of the trunk then back up the right side to the changer.

By the way, if you don't have a Smartenna, get one! It took me 20 minutes to install it. Now I can listen to the CD player when I go through a car wash.
