Steering Wheel Question

Just had a PPI on a 92 & after talking to the mechanic, he mentioned that the owner brought the car in about 9 months ago & had a new OEM steering wheel installed for $1018 parts & labor. Mechanic did not know why so I called the owner & he said that the steering wheel was wobbly. He also mentioned that it did not feel right when he was steering it with one finger. Anybody have this problem before. The car is clean with only 23000 miles on it. Clean carfax. I never heard of a wobbly steering wheel on a nsx with 23000 miles on it. Should I be concern? THANKS

Sounds fishy to me. Why would the steering wheel be wobbly? I think there must be something else wrong, or else the air bag had fired and he needed to get the steering wheel replaced. Did the PPI identify anything else out of the ordinary?

Also, assuming it's a stick-shift, it would be hard to steer the NSX (below speed) with one finger since there is no power steering...unless you're the hulk. ;)

The PPI was fine, after the mechanic told me the PPI report, he went & looked at the history of the car & he was telling me all the stuff that the owner had done to the car & replacing the steering wheel was one of them & it did not say why. The other stuff were normal maintainance. Oy yea, its an auto. The owner spent alot of money on the car in the past year so he could be telling the truth. The stuff he done in the past year; Timing belt & water pump. all belts replaced, both window regulator replaced, new dali exhaust, new carbon fiber air intake, new OEM 7 spoke rims & tires, brake fluid peplaced, etc. Most was done by Acura dealership & he has receipts. Asking prize is $31000. Oh yea, the owner just bought a ferrari 360 & while he was waiting for the PPI today he ordered a 2006 nsx

Hmm. Perhaps another auto owner can help you out. I don't know anything about the automatic models, sorry.

If the airbag went off due to an accident, surely there must be signs of some body/paint work.

"Wobbly" steering wheel? hhmmmm Maybe he could have had an aftermarket wheel such as a momo on it and wanted to go back to OEM.

No signs of body work or paint work as per PPI. The wobbly steering wheel was OEM. I have'nt seen the car personnally, I was suppose to go see it tommorow until I found out about the steering wheel. (7 hour drive)
