Please help, when installing the control unit, does this
unit install between the lower glove box and passenger
side dashboard lower panel. Or does it attach to the out-
side of the dashboard lower panel, so if you looked under
the dashboard you could see it. Hope this makes some
sense. Your help is much appreciated.
For a 1998 NSX-T

it attaches to the outside, underneath the glovebox of the passenger side dashboard.

thats how it was installed when I purchased the car and the original owner had it installed by the dealer when it was purchased new.

But if you look at the service manual, It also shows that how is it is properly installed.

please check this web and tell me if im wrong

and here's a quote from the installation manual
"you will later use these brackets to attach the control unit to the bottom of the dashboard lower panel"

make sure you facts are straight before posting please

You may be correct, but like I stated, I have done the actual installation 3 times on my 3 different NSX's and I have managed to install the control unit on the inside of the passenger side dashboard lower panel. I personally think it makes more sense to have the control unit not exposed outside the panel for security and aesthetic reasons.

Whatever works for you, it's your car...

It is NOT supposed to be installed on the outside of the panel but on the inside of the "bottom" panel, concealed.
If you dealer did this on your car then it is a mistake. Dealers do make mistakes and mounting this unit on the outside where it can be seen is just that.
In this, Nimbus is right and DOES have his facts straight.

If Nimbus is right then why is it in the instruction manual indicate this
"9. Reinstall the glove box, striker, and the glove box door.
10. Using the two 5 x 8 mm washer screws (the smaller ones) install the brackets onto the control unit - you will later use these brackets to attach the control unit to the bottom of the dashboard lower panel. Connect the antenna to the keyless entry control unit"

I understand what your telling me, but im just reading what the manual says. And if my keyless entry is installed incorrectly why does it fit/mount perfectly.

The instruction only says to mount on the bottom lower panel, it does not specifically state to mount on the inside or outside. It is assumed to be mounted inside therefore it is not clearly stated.

Your keyless control unit mounts fine because it is fastened by screws and nuts that works both ways.

It does mount in the fashion described(outside)and will function "perfectly" fine but it is not perfectly correct.
Nimbus explaination says it all.
If it doesn't bother you then it's no big deal. The whole keyless setup on the car isn't that hot anyway. It's the way it drives that makes it a great car. The accessories are not the very best in my opinion, just adequate.
