Greetings

I'm in the process of refinishing my subject interior parts, but I have no idea on what to direct the shop doing the restoration work to apply as a finish. They are recommending painting them but I have a concern about paint holding up to heat and scratch resistance.
The parts currently have a carbon fiber overlay, but I want a more stock appearance. They describe the paint they want to use as being a PPG product the same as is used on auto exteriors.
All I know is that I want the parts to be semi gloss black and to have excellant wearability.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Jim

Paint will be fine Jim - if weather get s a little brighter this week, I'll bring my car & maybe we can hook up so you can see the finish on my console & get a real judgement.
We've been meaning to connect for the last, what .... year?

I'd appreciate that, believe it or not I have not seen in person, another nsx interior I don't even know what stock is, except for photos.

I'm usually heading home around 5:00-5:30 but I can always leave earlier to. I would'nt want to hold you up.

Jim, for what it's worth, I'd say paint will be fine, too. I had a custom fiberglass center console painted so I could fit a DIN head unit in and I'm very satisfied with the results. I took it to a body shop and had them do it. Tell them its for the interior of your car and you want it to be hard and durable. I've had no problems with mine so far at all.

Thanks Don,
The shop doing the work specializes in refurbishing plastic parts for vehicle restoration projects and I guess that I should just relax and let them do as they recommend. They said that the paint they will use after curing for 30 days should be just fine. I'm probably just being anal about it.

Jim, I think we're all like that when it comes to our cars! I worry myself sometimes! But, like me, you're probably still stuck with that idea in the back of your head "It's gotta be perfect." and "regular" paint seems to not be good enough... Paint technology seems to have come a long way in the last years.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Don
