I have a 92 NSX and have run Bridgestone SO-2's in the past and currently SO-3's. I's considering the Goodyear F1's due to their very favorable ratings.

Has anyone out there owned both and what did you like / dislike about each and which did you prefer and why?

thx in advance

I've run them back to back. The G3-D3's have much better dry grip than the S03s (how I miss the old S02s...) I did not drive them long enough to compare wear. I did notice that compared to the S03s and Yoko AVS tires, they seem narrower compared to the listed width (this varies between manufactures).

Take a look at the Yoko AVS tires as well.

Cheers,

Hello...I have driven both back to back. The S-03 and GS-D3 are both excellent tires, and you cannot really go wrong with either one. The S-03 I felt had slightly better wet traction, and the GS-D3 had an edge on dry pavement. Like I said, both are great tires, they just edge each other out in different areas. But both of them blow away the Yoko AVS Sports. :)

I currently run the AVS sports in the rear, and avs intermediates in the front....

the AVS sports were a definite improvement over the yokohama Nexus tires that they replaced in the rear.....

My only complaint is that the AVS intermediates in the front are poor in very wet conditions. Get on the brakes a little too hard and they push BAD.

And the AVS sports aren't available in a good 17" front size, unless i want 235/40-17 in the front..... and i'm rubbing, because of how low the JIC's are with the 215/40-17s that are on there now.

I think i will try the S-03's next since i've heard more than a few people talk about how good they are in the wet.... and i live in Washington state. Rain capital of the world. LOL!

I just am having a hard time putting anything other than Yokohama tires on my Advan (ie:yokohama) rims. Yeah I'm weird like that.

Interestingly, the Tire Rack test results are the opposite of either comparison above, edging out the F1 in the dry but lagging in most wet categories. Admittedly the differences are very small, and I'm confident that other factors such as selected tire sizes and pressures, pavement, and test vehicle produce larger variances.
