Seatbelt Lock

Does anyone know if Acura made some NSX's in 1991 with an all black interior, yet with tan Seatbelt locks? The reason I am asking is that I have found one with such an interior. The owner says that he has not changed out anything in the interior. I am thinking about purchasing the car. Is this a sign that seats or seatbelts have been replaced?

I don't think having tan seatbelt locks in something to be concerned about, but having the owner of the car tell you that nothing has been changed might be something to be concerned about. If Larry says they were changed, then you can bet (heavily) they were changed. If he (owner) is feeding you BS on that, what else is he feeding you bs about. Was there another previous owner?

No it's a one owner vehicle. He mentioned something about Acura fixing a seatbelt problem in the car several years ago (don't know if that was a recall or not), but if the dealership changed anything I would assume that they would match the interior. The owner seems to be a stand-up guy, but I've only talked to him via email and phone. The car is several states away.

I believe the seat belts were a safety item here in Canada. When I bought my 91 it is still outstading one recall for the seat belts. So maybe they only had tan belts and the previous owner didn't care and took that instead of the black ones? the dealer ship should have records on that? Thats if it hasn't been too long and the service records are gone now?

I think the question should be what do you think of it? Aside from any possible monkey business, it boils down to whether you can live with the buckle being tan. Personally, I'd be changing it real quick. It's one of thise things that would eat at me every time I got in the car.
