This instrument panel pic comes from Ebay motors auction 2457497502, a 1992 JDM NSX.

The speedo only goes to 180 km/h (approx 112 MPH); is that some kind of gentleman's agreement among manufacturers in Japan, or do they have a law like the USA used to (that limited speedometers to 85 MPH), or ... ?

Also, does anyone know what the accessory to the left of the driver's left knee is in this pic:

I don't want to bid on this auction, nor am I looking to JDM-ify my car; I'm just curious.

Speed limits in Japan just aren't very high, hence the low speedometer numbers. Few cars even have speedometers that show beyond 200km/h, even though it is obvious many Japanese cars can blow past that.

If I were in Japan, my speedo would probably always hit the lower-right hand corner :D

Looking at the dash pic, it looks like the dash opening is for a 2 din head unit, are the JDM NSX available with a different headunit or did this one just get cut on. My guess is aftermarket, it also looks like the comsole dash is two pieces splitting just below the ashtray, again aftermarket?

I believe the dash was cut for a 2d. and the ash tray was covered by some sort of a cover.. maybe somesorta boost controller display was there before
