This is something I can offer.
I'd need to have 5 - 10 orders to work a good deal. If you think you'd be interested in something like this, post here.

AEM

What price? HorsepowerFreaks was offering EMS for $1345, complete package for OBD1 for $1650.

Dave

if i can get 5+ orders, the price will be quite good. i'll email pricing to whomever is interested. just give me the word :)

AEM

I am not sure what is in a 'kit'. For an OBD1 car I know I would need to add a wide band O2 sensor and some cables or harness conections. I was told the package was everything except labor and a laptop.:)

I have heard you disable the TCS with the AEM, anyone know for sure?

Dave

ADDING THE DUAL WIDEBAND MAKES THE TUNING MORE ACCURATE IT ALSO ADDS ABOUT $550.00 TO THE PRICE NOT INCLUDING THE GAUGES. AEM DOES NOT SUPPORT TCS .

Hey Armando how are you?

Guy's
the AEM does not support the factory tcs.
The tcs light will stay on unless you unplug the tcs unit behind the drivers seat.

AEM has there own tcs that the person tunning your car can dial in.

AEM does not want other vendors under cutting each other,
and they want everyone to sell it for about the same price.
Its kind of like Bose speakers, everywere you go the list price is about the same.

I would call SOS or your local shop that handles AEM, and get a better deal than what has been talked about here.

I bought only one and killed those prices.
Just my 2 cents.
Brian.

That's just the basics as sold for a typical street price ~$1350, but titaniumdave mentioned a "complete package" for $1650, hence our questions.

It is complete as it comes out of the box. Dual band is an option as I stated .

WHATS'S IN THE PACKAGE??

I'm not sure what could be in any OBD I package because it comes (as Armando mentions) with the only additional wiring needed. If you are using forced induction, you should buy the AEM map sensor, but its only about 110. (its a Cavco (sic) actually), because despite the ongoing conversations, the factory
MAP sensor should not be used with an F/I NSX. I've done 8 or 9 AEM's now, ALL with AEM 2bar MAP sensors and its really worth the 100-110. bucks.

If the package is a "map", if it's not done on your car, throw it away.

If your NSX is stock, send me the money for the EMS instead, I'll invest it in some market based funds, your car will feel exactly the same, and if we're lucky your money will double in 7 years and you can buy some really cool wheels instead.

nb- disclaimer - that was NOT a serious offer to sell securities

Having bought one long ago, I am quite aware of what comes in the box. But I REPEAT, titaniumdave mentioned a "complete package" for $1650, and we have asked HIM what the extra $300 is for. Continuing to tell us about the basic ECU does not answer the question, even if you post in ALL CAPS. Perhaps it includes the single wideband, or perhaps it includes tuning if you take it to them, but that's the question.

Frankly I don't give a hoot, but it was a question begging to be asked.

If you bought one then you know what it includes. A complete package for one might not be a complete package for another. All he mentioned was OBD1.In a non FI car the AEM ecu would be a complete package as it will run the car just fine, from there you can add bells and whistle depending on application. I respect and apreciate you knowledge but sometimes the simplest questions can have the simplest answers. (Could be they are charging to much for the "package")

Armando

Or maybe he is paying to much.

Prices?

95Mr2Turbo i can beat those prices by a formidable margin.

95Mr2Turbo,
Please price what you are offering for complete set ups/kits:

OBD1 NA
OBD1 FI
OBD2 NA
OBD2 FI

What parts are needed and included at what prices. This might be the best way to get the 5 orders you mentioned and clarify exactly what we all are talking about. Thanks.

OBD1 NA = the AEM-EMS in a box. Unless the car is way modified it won't do any more (or less) than a "chip": $1175.00

OBD1 FI: AEM-EMS + UEGO = $1633.00

one or 10 - same price.

No offense, but clearly you've missed the point. Since he was quoted both the ECU at one price and a "package" at a different price, the vendor was offering something in the "package" not normally included with the ECU (at least one should hope). So there may be a simple answer, but it isn't "A complete package for one might not be a complete package for another". That's closer to the question than the answer. Nor is the answer that they are charging too much for the ECU since their base price is the same as virtually any publicly advertised (Dali excluded), yet they have the "package" also available.

I keep thinking I won’t keep this inane debate going, and yet I can’t help thinking I have failed to be clear, which obviously bugs me.

That's clear enough for me thanks
