Has anyone had to do a shock rebuild on their TEIN Type-RA?
I have started to notice considerate increase in frontal bouncing and some hissing noise
going over speed bumps. I have a feeling that one of my front shocks are dying or is dead.
If you have experience with dead TEINs, do they make any noise? Also, if you had them
repaired, what was the process.

After reading the TEIN PDF manual for the shock, it may be taht I damaged it by setting it too loose.
On the street, I was running the shock at full soft, but the instructions set not to set it too loose.
I will experiement by putting it somewhere in the middlerange to see the problem disappears.

Hi, if you can I hope you do fix this problem. As if not, this will occur after:

Send the dead shock bcak to Tein Usa. They DO NOT have the equipment here to rebuild or revalve RE, RA, or N-1, so they must send it back to japan, for warranty, which will take a long time.

Hope you fix the problem

I've stiffened the shocks by rotating the adjuster to middle position. It seems to have minimized the hiss noise, but I hope to get a secondhand opinion from another TEIN owner. I'll try to compare them back to back.

Is there any oil leaking from the damper? If not, the upper seals should be fine. Perhaps the nitrogen on the bottom is slowly leaking out, which is easy to refill and doesn't require a complete overhaul, just new seals.
