Engine steam-cleaning process?

My engine bay needs serious cleaning, but I am afraid to do it.

Is it safe to steam-clean the engine in NSX? What should I do to prepair for this? Which parts should be covered? Any advice?

I personally would try something less intense first.....simple green applied liberally all over the engine, brush the tough spots ......then let sit for a few minutes then rinse with a hose.... let dry and then apply a can of foam tire dressing all over and your done. Make sure you do this while the engine is cold and not right after a drive. Im sure others will chim in also but if you do a search there have been a few articles on this.
