I'm havign a very strange problem with my climate control unit, what happens is it doesn't work rite.. but every now and then it will turn on and work for like 10mins.. then off again.. ive tested the power to the unit and everything is fine on that end, the fuse is working good... this happened all of a sudden too , never had nay problem.. so I'm starting to think its aproblem with the actual climate control units system.... Anyone else have this problem? Anyway to fix this??? or tests I should do?

Also does anyone have the part # for the climate control unit? and does any other honda models use the same unit?

Thanks Guys,

Mine was turning on by itself and only worked on high setting. I took it apart last friday and found about 3 capacitors on the climate control board "bled out", meaning fluid came out of them. You could either buy a new one from Acura if that is your problem or send it to an electronics guy to have the caps replaced.

I just sent mine to Langguth Electronics.

The problem you are having and the "A/C only blows on high" are common problems with the climate control unit. As hlweyl mentioned, the capacitors on the climate control board are most likely to blame. A local electronics repair shops should be able to replace them for you or you can send it to a place like Langguth. These threads might help:

PICS of A/C fix do it!
Problem: AC turns off and stays off even if restart (address of a Langguth Electronics is mentioned in this one)

I don't have the part number off-hand, but if you decide to order a replacement, keep in mind the control unit in the dash is made up of two different parts: the “ILLUMINATION ASSY.” (part with the display and knobs) and the “COMPUTER ASSY.” (black box). The “COMPUTER ASSY.” is typically the part that fails.

I do not think these parts not shared with other Honda models.

I had someone attempt the repair on my board and it worked for a month or so and then the problem came back.

You will need (if you order) climate control computer board PN "79610-sl0-a02" is $586.86 through Dali Racing's part guy.

Ask me how I know...

I have a feeling that this problem could be that my Fog Lights (canadian) aren't working.... also the regular parking lights.. not the headlights that flip up, im unsure if they are burnt out cause im not sure when theyre supposed to be on.. the side ones work.. cuz when i put my alarm on they flash.. but those center ones.. i never know when there supposed to be on, so i cant tell if theyre burtn.. Im thinking it might be my lights out thats causing the climate control unit to fuckup and go on and off

Why do you feel it’s related to the lights, especially if you have not taken the time to check for something common and simple (to check, as well as replace) such as burnt bulbs? Did the lights and climate control stop working at the same time? Have you been unable to track down the cause of the electrical problem described in this thread?

Considering the year of your NSX and symptoms you describe, the climate control board still seems like the most likely source of the problem. If you want to confirm this, the service manual contains a step-by-step troubleshooting procedure. There’s a downloadable version in the FAQ.

If you’re still interested in associating this problem to some gremlin in your electrical system, take a look at the second link I posted. Nick (matteni) made some observations between the erratic behavior of the unit and the rest of the electrical system. However, as you can see in his post above, he ended up solving the problem by replacing the unit.
