Okay, so I took the advice of pretty much every eastside Seattle person here and took my car up to Lynnwood yesterday to get a new battery and have the charging system checked out. Service was good, nice and quick, friendly clueful people and all that, except...

They scratched the side of my car in several places around the engine bay. I had just washed it and gone over it carefully to make sure I hadn't missed any spots. I know what paint glitches I have, and these were not there when I took it in. Alas, I picked it up in near-darkness and didn't notice the grayish scratches in the black finish until I took it out in the sun today.

I'm going to call tomorrow and see what they say. I'm not optimistic. I expect denial. Be sure, though, that I'll post an update.

My paint isn't in the greatest condition, but these scratches are far and away the worst and most visible on the car and I'm pissed off.

Dont let them smooze you, or rail road you into some lame fix.

I had another dealership around us, try to buy me off with a book of free oil change cupons.

I held fast, and got the book, and the $2500 to replace my passenger side Advan wheels, and too make me feel somewhat not as mad about the 170 mile joyride.

Let me know how it turns out. I've been recommending them to friends (hell, my car is up there right now) and would hate to be sending them someplace they'll hate me for later.

omg sorry to hear that:eek: the whole time my family has been taking our cars there we never ever had a problem like that. Yeah I'm sure they'll make it right. I just had my oil changed last saturday and everything was great.

Very sorry to hear that. I've used Lynnwood for my timing belt and w.p. and they were great. I DID however, have a similar problem with Acura of Bellevue (filthy, scratches, ruined battery after keeping it for 2 weeks). Needless to say, I will not take my car back to Bellevue...I think I'm going to continue taking my chances with Lynnwood.

Acura of Lynnwood is not good at everything. Don't let rookies Mech do aftermarket clutch installation. They ruined mine last time, and charged me for the extra time they had the Master mech (Jon) re-do the work. I will not go there again for clutch installation but probably for other minor things. I would go to Hong's Acura/Honda for aftermarket clutch installation.

Since owning an NSX I have used Lynwood Acura 3 times now for major service. In every case, the parts and service people have been pleasant and courteous to deal with. I have also asked specifically to have only Jon perform work on my car whenever possible. I have had no problems with the actual servicing, which has included a timing belt change and install of a CT PG2 clutch.

However, I too have had the problems with scratches on my car every time I have brought it there. The new scratches usually appear around the engine area, as if the mechanic or service mat was rubbing up against the side of the car.

To attest to Lynwood's professionalism, they have never agressively attempted to argue or deny they caused the scratches. However, their suggested solution was to bring the car back and have them buff on it-- an offer I have always declined.

Instead I purchased some Mcguiars fine swirl remover polish and have always been able to remove the scratches myself with very minimal effort. I would suggest trying that first, as the scratches are likely more superficial than you might think.

Bottom line is I would still recommend Lynwood overall, but insist on having only Jon do the actual work, do not allow them to wash your car, and be sure to request the 15% Seattle NSX club discount.

BB, does the" Seattle NSX club " exist?? you mean it's a chapter of the NSXCA NW region, or they do have their own club?

I went to the nsx meeting every first Sat. in Redmond quite often, and I don't aware there's an organization of seattle nsx club.

If you have any idea, Would you pls let me know?? thanks!

By the way, I haven't had an opportunity to return to have the service manager look at the scratches. At this point, it's been long enough that I won't ask them to (pay to) fix them. My fault, I shouldn't have put it off. I wouldn't want someone bringing a car to me weeks after I worked on it and showing me scratches they expected me to pay to repair.

I'll try them again, given the reccomendations, but I'll be warning them that this has happened and I will be checking the car for new scratches before I leave the lot.

Live and learn.

As far as I can remember, there isn't a chapter for the NW NSX folks. But they (Acura of Lynnwood) considered us as part of the NSX club in general. We do get together but not organized like those P and BMW guys.
